Prevalence and significance of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential in lung transplant recipients

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2023
Background Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), the age-related acquisition of somatic mutations that leads to an expanded blood cell clone, has been associated with development of a pro-inflammatory state.

Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential (CHIP) and Incident Type 2 Diabetes Risk. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
ObjectiveClonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is an aging-related accumulation of somatic mutations in hematopoietic stem cells, leading to clonal expansion.

Mitochondrial heteroplasmy improves risk prediction for myeloid neoplasms

open access: yesNature Communications
Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential is the primary pathogenic risk factor for myeloid neoplasms, while heteroplasmy (mutations in a subset of cellular mitochondrial DNA) is another marker of clonal expansion associated with hematological ...

The Spectrum of Clinical Utilities in Molecular Pathology Testing Procedures for Inherited Conditions and Cancer: A Report of the Association for Molecular Pathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Clinical utility describes the benefits of each laboratory test for that patient. Many stakeholders have adopted narrow definitions for the clinical utility of molecular testing as applied to targeted pharmacotherapy in oncology, regardless of the ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Inflammatory reprogramming of the solid tumor microenvironment by infiltrating clonal hematopoiesis is associated with adverse outcomes

open access: yesCell Reports Medicine
Summary: Clonal hematopoiesis (CH)—the expansion of somatically mutated hematopoietic cells—is common in solid cancers. CH is associated with systemic inflammation, but its impact on tumor biology is underexplored.

Increased prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential in hospitalized patients with COVID-19

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) leads to higher mortality, carries a cardiovascular risk and alters inflammation. All three aspects harbor overlaps with the clinical manifestation of COVID-19.
