Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Enhancement of stress response in Chinese cabbage through eugenol and clove essential oil

open access: yesCurrent Plant Biology
Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. pekinesis) is a vital leafy vegetable crop that thrives within the temperature range of 12 °C to 22 °C. However, high temperatures can adversely impact its growth, development, and yield.

SPHINX31 acts as a SRPK1 inhibitor targeting the ATR/DNA‐PKcs/CHK1 replicative checkpoint to inhibit cell growth in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The kinase SRPK1 directly interacts with the protein TOPBP1 and regulates the pre‐mRNA splicing of WIZ thereby contributing to the activation of the ATR/CHK1 replicative checkpoint in response to replicative stress. This allows cancer cells' genomic stability and survival.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Inhibitory Effect of Essential Oil and Oleoresin of Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) on Food-Borne Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.

open access: yesBiomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal
Background: Foodborne pathogens, particularly Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp., present significant health risks, exacerbated by the growing resistance to antibiotics. This study explores the potential of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) essential oil and

Toxicity, repellency, and anti-cholinesterase activities of bioactive molecules from clove buds Syzygium aromaticum L. as an ecological alternative in the search for control Hyalomma scupense (Acari: Ixodidae)

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Introduction: The goal of the current study is to evaluate the acaricidal and repellent properties of the ethanolic extract, essential oil, and primary component eugenol from Syzygium aromaticum against Hyalomma scupense cattle ticks.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral
