Tissue harmonic imaging with CMUTs
2011 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2011In this work, we report on the characterization of a CMUT probe (Capactive Micromachined Ultrasound Transducer) for Tissue Harmonic Imaging (THI). The intrinsic nonlinear behavior of the CMUT probe was first investigated. Matched electrical waveforms were transmitted to limit the impact of the transmit response distortion.

Investigation of nonlinear CMUT behavior
IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 2005., 2006Due to the electrostatic excitation principle, capac- itive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUT) exhibit a nonlinear behavior. This effect cannot be neglected in case of transmission where CMUTs are driven with high-level signals and are operated near the collapse point. Especially for medical ultrasonic diagnostics, nonlinear distortions of the

VHDL-AMS behavioural modelling of a CMUT element
2009 IEEE Behavioral Modeling and Simulation Workshop, 2009This paper reports the development, implementation and simulation of a behavioural model written in VHDL-AMS for a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT). Unlike previous behavioural models, this model incorporates the non-linear electro-mechanical relation of the CMUT.

Capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUTs) promise high transducer performance for several ultrasound applications. When using the CMUT array for medical applications where a focused ultrasound image with a 90 degree image sector is needed, we need a large number of individual elements.

Tunable Manipulation of Microparticles by CMUT
2018 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2018We achieve trapping and aligning of microparticles by using a miniature capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) combined with a phononic crystal plate (PCP). The interaction of an incident wave generated by CMUT with the PCP at resonant frequency can result in periodic and gradient field near the surface of PCP. Then the microparticles on

Linear and nonlinear equivalent circuit modeling of CMUTs
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2005Using piston radiator and plate capacitance theory capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUT) membrane cells can be described by one-dimensional (1-D) model parameters. This paper describes in detail a new method, which derives a 1-D model for CMUT arrays from finite-element methods (FEM) simulations.

A method for analyzing capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) arrays and arrays of elements composed of several CMUTs is proposed. It is based on a combination of a free acoustic mode description of an isolated CMUT, and the coupling of these modes to the fluid in which waves should be excited or detected through an impedance matrix that
