Characterization of Structure, Properties, and Energetic Performance of a 1:1 Ammonium Dinitramide‐3,4‐Diaminofurazan Cocrystal

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) and 3,4‐Diaminofurazan (DAF) form a 1:1 energetic cocrystal. We report its crystal structure and spectroscopic signature and evaluate thermal stability, decomposition behavior, hygroscopicity, and combustion properties. Propellant performance calculations benchmark the material against guanylurea dinitramide (GuDN) and ...

Continuous manufacturing of high quality pharmaceutical cocrystals integrated with process analytical tools for in-line process control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A continuous manufacturing process for pharmaceutical indomethacin–saccharine cocrystals was achieved by extrusion processing with high throughput. Down-stream milling and blending of the extrudates was followed by feeding the formulated cocrystals in a ...

A Hanks‐type bacterial kinase, PknS, directly phosphorylates the alternative sigma factor EcfK to promote resistance to protist predation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The Xanthomonas citri Hanks‐type kinase PknS autophosphorylates and directly phosphorylates the alternative sigma factor EcfK at five residues. Besides the conserved residue T51 in the σ2 domain, phosphorylation of a residue in the linker between σ2 and σ4 is critical for EcfK activation by promoting its interaction with a positively charged pocket in ...

Structures of complexes comprised of Fischerella transcription factor HetR with Anabaena DNA targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
HetR is an essential regulator of heterocyst development in cyanobacteria. Many mutations in HetR render Anabaena incapable of nitrogen fixation. The protein binds to a DNA palindrome upstream of hetP and other genes.

Spatiotemporal dynamics of β‐arrestin‐mediated Src activation in 5‐HT7 receptor signaling pathway

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
GPCRs induce distinct cellular responses via G protein‐ or β‐arrestin‐mediated signaling pathways. This study revealed that β‐arrestin‐biased 5‐HT7R ligand induces slow, sustained Src activation, contrasting with transient G protein‐mediated activation.

A Novel Insensitive Cocrystal Explosive Composed of BTF and the Non-Energetic 2-Nitroaniline

open access: yesCrystals
Benzotrifuroxan (BTF) is a powerful energetic material (EM) with high density that can be used both as a primary and a secondary explosive. However, high mechanical sensitivity limits its application prospects.

High pressure pre-treatments promote higher rate and degree of enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The effect of high pressure (HP) pre-treatments on the subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose from bleached kraft Eucalyptus globulus pulp by cellulase from Tricoderma viride was evaluated. Pressure pre-treatments of 300 and 400 MPa during 5–45 min,

Discovery of a cryptic aminoacidic triad involved in the temperature adaptation of GH1 enzymes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cold‐active enzymes retain high catalytic activity at low temperatures but are characterized by thermal instability, a behavior not fully understood. Comparison between a cold‐active GH1 and its mesophilic counterparts highlights the role of a three‐residue motif (W‐M‐F) in conferring structural stability to a mesophilic GH1.
