Sleep Disturbances in Adults With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex: Influences of Treatment and Clinical Features

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic condition with multisystem neurocutaneous signs, including hamartomas, epilepsy, and neuropsychological difficulties. Although sleep disorders are increasingly recognized in TSC, they remain poorly described in adults.

Reducing spray volume for the control of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) in coffee plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The present work evaluated reducing on spray volume for the control of Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville & Perrottet, 1842) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) in coffee.

Nanodiamonds as Bioactive Platforms to Modulate Microbial, Mammalian, and Vertebrate Systems

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Nanodiamonds (NDs) are biocompatible and antibacterial nanomaterials that support mammalian cell growth while inhibiting bacterial pathogens. NDs showed strong antibacterial activity, with Escherichia coli being more sensitive than Staphylococcus aureus. At 10 mg/mL, both bacteria exhibited ~8% viability.

Sustainable Palm Oil Extraction and Trends in the Use of Green Technologies: State‐of‐the‐Art and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Palm oil, which is extracted from the mesocarp of the fruit of the Elaeis guineensis Jacq. palm tree, is the most widely produced vegetable oil in the world. The extraction of this substance typically utilizes the conventional pressing method, a technique that is advantageous due to its low operating cost and simplified process.

Stabilization of PUFA‐Rich Mayonnaise Against Lipid Oxidation: A Review of the Last Three Decades of Research

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mayonnaise, a widely consumed oil‐in‐water emulsion, is highly susceptible to lipid oxidation due to its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the presence of pro‐oxidant factors such as low pH and iron from egg yolk. Over the past three decades, extensive research has focused on understanding oxidation mechanisms, analytical

13C-CO2 pulse labelling evaluation of water deficit on leaf carbon dynamics and whole plant allocation in fruiting coffee

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Plants experience physiological and metabolic changes in response to water deficit during critical stages, such as fruiting. In coffee, the allocation of fresh assimilates and interplay between leaf orientation, leaf age, and carbon changes are unknown ...

Understanding the Aqueous Self‐Assembly of Raw Sophorolipid Mixtures Using a Statistical Approach Applied to Synchrotron Small Angle X‐Ray Scattering (SAXS): A Focus on pH, Dilution, Aging, and the Underestimated Role of Residual Fatty Acids

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
The statistical analysis of SAXS modelling data allows to identify the critical physicochemical parameters that have an impact on the phase behavior of crude sophorolipid batches. ABSTRACT The aqueous self‐assembly of raw sophorolipid mixtures has been studied by small angle x‐ray scattering (SAXS) to understand the impact of the composition ...

Evolutionary radiation of large‐bodied gorgonopsians from the lower Abrahamskraal formation of South Africa

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The middle Permian represents a critical interval in therapsid evolution, when gorgonopsians emerged as some of the first specialized apex predators within terrestrial ecosystems. Despite their significance, the early diversification of Gorgonopsia in Gondwana remains poorly understood due to scarcity and fragmentary material.

Increased fruit load influences vegetative growth, dry mass partitioning, and bean quality attributes in full-sun coffee cultivation

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
Coffee fruits are highly competitive compared to other functional sink organs. This can affect the vegetative growth of the shoot, dry mass partitioning, and the size and amount of healthy beans.
