Cognitive load theory and informational entropy
Information stored in long-term memory is qualitatively different in nature from information available in the environment. It is proposed that this is because information in long-term memory is highly ordered and therefore in a low entropy state. In contrast, information in the environment has higher entropy and is more disordered.
