Relaxation in the XX quantum chain

open access: yes, 2006
We present the results obtained on the magnetisation relaxation properties of an XX quantum chain in a transverse magnetic field. We first consider an initial thermal kink-like state where half of the chain is initially thermalized at a very high ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Simulation of the many-body dynamical quantum Hall effect in an optical lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We propose an experimental scheme to simulate the many-body dynamical quantum Hall effect with ultra-cold bosonic atoms in a one-dimensional optical lattice.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Edible Coatings for Fresh Fruits: Functional Roles, Optimization Strategies, and Analytical Perspectives

open access: yesPlants
Fresh fruits are inherently prone to postharvest deterioration due to loss of moisture, respiration, mechanical damage, and microbial decay, making quality preservation a persistent challenge across fresh fruit supply chains.

COLD CHAIN FOR VACCINES

open access: yesJournal of Drug Delivery and Therapeutics, 2012
Abstract Vaccines are biological substances that may lose their effectiveness quickly if they become too hot or too cold at any time, especially during transport and storage. The efficacy of vaccines depends on maintaining the cold-chain – that is, a prescribed temperature range during distribution from manufacturer to the point of use.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

High-intensity ultrasound of chicken myofibrillar protein under reduced-salt conditions: effect on emulsifying and interfacial properties

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Products
In this study, the effects of high-intensity ultrasound (HIU, frequency 20 kHz, amplitude 60%, power 450 W) for 0, 6, and 9 min on the emulsifying properties of chicken myofibrillar protein (MP) under different NaCl concentrations (0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5

Entanglement, decoherence and thermal relaxation in exactly solvable models

open access: yes, 2011
Exactly solvable models provide an opportunity to study different aspects of reduced quantum dynamics in detail. We consider the reduced dynamics of a single spin in finite XX and XY spin 1/2 chains. First we introduce a general expression describing the
