Comparison of Methods of Sampling for Toxocara Species and Fecal Coliforms in an Outdoor Day Care Environment

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, Volume 9, Issue 3, Page 149-156, 1998., 1998
OBJECTIVE: To compare three sampling methods and to pretest methods for the determination of fecal coliform (FC) counts and Toxocara species from sand in the day care outdoor environment. DESIGN: The sand samples were obtained from the play area and the sandbox of a day care centre and examined for the presence of FC and Toxocara species, the common ...

The classification of coliform bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesEpidemiology and Infection, 1938
A study of the biological characters of 1636 cultures of coliform bacteria, isolated from milk and bovine faeces, shows that the coliform group consists of a large number of different types. These types are so closely interlinked in characters and in relations to environment as to justify their inclusion in one genus.
