Optimization of Optical and Mechanical Properties of Real Architecture for 3-Dimensional Tissue Equivalents: Towards Treatment of Limbal Epithelial Stem Cell Deficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Limbal epithelial stem cell (LESC) deficiency can cause blindness. Transplantation of cultured human limbal epithelial cells (hLE) on human amniotic membrane (HAM) can restore vision but clinical graft manufacture can be unreliable.

Rethinking the role of alpha toxin in Clostridium perfringens-associated enteric diseases : a review on bovine necro-haemorrhagic enteritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Bovine necro-haemorrhagic enteritis is an economically important disease caused by Clostridium perfringens type A strains. The disease mainly affects calves under intensive rearing conditions and is characterized by sudden death associated with small ...

Microporous Microgel Assemblies Facilitating the Recruitment and Osteogenic Differentiation of Progenitor Cells for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
There is a significant need for biomaterials with well‐defined stability and bioactivity to support tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a tunable microgel platform that enables the decoupling of stiffness from porosity, thereby promoting bone regeneration.

High-Level Extracellular Expression of Collagenase ColH in Bacillus subtilis for Adipose-Derived Cells Extraction

open access: yesFermentation
Collagenase has a wide range of applications in the medicine, cosmetic, and food industries. Inefficient expression of collagenase impedes its industrial production and commercial applications. In this study, a secretory expression system for collagenase

Effect of Chlorhexidine Application on Bond Durability of a Filled-Adhesive System [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Materials and Techniques, 2013
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) application on immediate and two-month bond strength of a filled adhesive system. Methods: Forty eight non-carious human third molars without enamel of occlusal surface were randomly

Insights into Molecular Interaction of Flavonoid Compounds in Citrus Peel Bound to Collagenase and Elastase Enzymes: A Computational Study

open access: yesPharmaceutical Sciences and Research, 2021
Citrus peels contain various phytochemical active compounds such as flavonoids that are useful for antiaging cosmetic products. This study was conducted to identify the anti-collagenase and anti-elastase activities of flavonoid compounds in citrus peel ...

Collagenase is a major gene product of induced rabbit synovial fibroblasts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have investigated the effects of the tumor-promoting phorbol diester, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA), on rabbit synovial fibroblasts, and found that this agent induced a major switch in gene expression in these cells that was marked by the

Tumor cell traffic through the extracellular matrix is controlled by the membrane-anchored collagenase MT1-MMP

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 2004
As cancer cells traverse collagen-rich extracellular matrix (ECM) barriers and intravasate, they adopt a fibroblast-like phenotype and engage undefined proteolytic cascades that mediate invasive activity. Herein, we find that fibroblasts and cancer cells

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.
