This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Effective operator contributions to the oblique parameters
We present a model and process independent study of the contributions from non-Standard Model physics to the oblique parameters S, T and U. We show that within an effective lagrangian parameterization the expressions for the oblique parameters in terms ...

Sea Contributions to Spin 1/2 Baryon Structure, Magnetic Moments, and Spin Distribution [PDF]
We treat the baryon as a composite system made out of a \lq\lq core" of three quarks (as in the standard quark model) surrounded by a \lq\lq sea" (of gluons and $q\bar{q}$-pairs) which is specified by its total quantum numbers like flavor, spin and color.

Cancer of the colon has an estimated incidence of 31 per 1000 peryear and causes the death of 18.5 per 1000. Adenocarcinoma of thecolon represents 60% of all colorectal cancers diagnosed inFrance. This document refers to the management of adenocarcinomas ofthe colon which account for 90–95% of all large bowel tumours.

Patterns of metastasis in colon and rectal cancer
Investigating epidemiology of metastatic colon and rectal cancer is challenging, because cancer registries seldom record metastatic sites. We used a population based approach to assess metastatic spread in colon and rectal cancers.

Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Impact of proximal resection margins on oncologic outcomes for patients with sigmoid colon cancer [PDF]
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between proximal resection margin (PRM) length and oncologic outcomes in sigmoid colon cancer. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study on patients with sigmoid colon cancer between

Nonobstructing Colonic Dilatation and Colon Perforations Following Renal Transplantation [PDF]
Nonobstructing colonic dilatation has not been commonly reported following renal transplantation, and colon perforations carry a high morbidity and mortality in this population.

Inflammation and colon cancer.
The connection between inflammation and tumorigenesis is well-established and in the last decade has received a great deal of supporting evidence from genetic, pharmacological, and epidemiological data.
