Optimization Models for Reducing Off-Cuts of Raw Materials in Construction Site

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
More than ten billion tons of construction waste are generated every year in the world. The large volume of construction waste not only increases costs for contractors, but also poses a threat to the environment.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Numerical simulation of primary atomization process of liquid jet in subsonic crossflow

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Studies of primary atomization of liquid transverse jets in subsonic crossflow consider surface waves as the main cause of jet fragmentation. The characteristics of surface waves during jet fragmentation have been initially analyzed, but there is a lack ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Optimizing Train Formation Problem With Car Flow Routing and Train Routing by Benders-and-Price Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
As the core of the rail freight flow organization process, train formation problem (TFP) has attracted much attention. In Chinese practice, car flow routing, TFP, and train routing are usually optimized sequentially to reduce the complexity of ...

A Coordinated Optimization of Rewarded Users and Employees in Relocating Station–Based Shared Electric Vehicles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2022
To solve the mismatch between the supply and demand of shared electric vehicles (SEVs) caused by the uneven distribution of SEVs in space and time, an SEV relocating optimization model is designed based on a reward mechanism.

A column generation algorithm for nonlinear programming [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Programming, 1973
An algorithm using column generation and penalty function techniques is presented. A linear program with a uniformly bounded number of columns, similar to the restricted master in generalized programming, is used to reduce the number of constraints included in forming a penalty function.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.
