Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Identification of Fertile Translations in Medical Comparable Corpora: a Morpho-Compositional Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper defines a method for lexicon in the biomedical domain from comparable corpora. The method is based on compositional translation and exploits morpheme-level translation equivalences.

On the use of comparable corpora to improve SMT performance [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 12th Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics on - EACL '09, 2009
We present a simple and effective method for extracting parallel sentences from comparable corpora. We employ a statistical machine translation (SMT) system built from small amounts of parallel texts to translate the source side of the non-parallel corpus.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Multilingual term extraction from comparable corpora : informativeness of monolingual term extraction features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Most research on bilingual automatic term extraction (ATE) from comparable corpora focuses on both components of the task separately, i.e. monolingual automatic term extraction and finding equivalent pairs cross-lingually.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Processing comparable corpora with Bilingual Suffix Trees [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACL-02 conference on Empirical methods in natural language processing - EMNLP '02, 2002
We introduce Bilingual Suffix Trees (BST), a data structure that is suitable for exploiting comparable corpora. We discuss algorithms that use BSTs in order to create parallel corpora and learn translations of unseen words from comparable corpora. Starting with a small bilingual dictionary that was derived automatically from a corpus of 5.000 parallel ...
