Inulin Dehydration to 5-HMF in Deep Eutectic Solvents Catalyzed by Acidic Ionic Liquids Under Mild Conditions. [PDF]
We studied the dehydration of inulin into 5‐HMF in Deep Eutectic Solvents, promoted by task specific ionic liquids, under mild conditions. The reaction occurred in a biphasic system, continuously extracting 5‐HMF. Catalyst and solvents could be reused and we also elucidated which solvent properties are most conducive to the best yields.
