Complement Component 5 (C5) Deficiency Improves Cognitive Outcome After Traumatic Brain Injury and Enhances Treatment Effects of Complement Inhibitors C1-Inh and CR2-Crry in a Mouse Model

open access: yesNeurotrauma Reports, 2023
A potent effector of innate immunity, the complement system contributes significantly to the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury (TBI). This study investigated the role of the complement cascade in neurobehavioral outcomes and neuropathology after ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Coregulation of a Neighboring EST with RHOGAP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
It has been reported that the crossveinless-c locus of Drosophila melanogaster corresponds the RhoGAP88C gene. This determination was based on three criteria: proximity in genetic map position, complementation tests, and similarity of phenotype between ...

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Patterns of C1-Inhibitor/Plasma Serine Protease Complexes in Healthy Humans and in Hereditary Angioedema Patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
C1-inhibitor (C1-INH) is an important regulator of the complement, coagulation, fibrinolytic and contact systems. The quantity of protease/C1-INH complexes in the blood is proportional to the level of the in vivo activation of these four cascade-like ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...
