Identification and functional characterisation of Complement Regulator Acquiring Surface Protein-1 of serum resistant Borrelia garinii OspA serotype 4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: B. burgdorferi sensu lato (sl) is the etiological agent of Lyme borreliosis in humans. Spirochetes have adapted themselves to the human immune system in many distinct ways.

Cu‐Pd Dual Single Atoms Promoting Selective CO2 Photoreduction to C2 Products in Seawater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cu and Pd dual single atoms anchored on TiO2 cooperatively enhance C─C coupling during CO2 photoreduction in seawater. Under xenon‐light irradiation and without a sacrificial reagent/alkaline trapping agent, the catalyst achieves highly selective acetic acid formation.

FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITY OF COMPLEMENT CLASSIC WAY ACTIVATION COMPONENTS AND ART1CULAS DAMAGE IN RHEUMATOID ARTRITIS

open access: yesНаучно-практическая ревматология, 2000
A relationship between X - ray joints changes and functional activity of classical pathway complement components in R4 was investigated. 31 patients with the moderate activity ofRA (ARA 1987) have been examined. Disease duration was 4,5lyear±3,84 (SD). X-

Metal–Organic Framework‐Preserved Thermostable Microneedle Patch for Minimally Invasive Detection and Monitoring of Kidney Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By growing a conformal ZIF‐8 protective layer directly on antibody‐functionalized microneedles, this work converts a fragile biosensing interface into a thermostable diagnostic platform. The MOF@MN patch enables minimally invasive NGAL detection from dermal ISF while supporting cold‐chain‐independent storage and transport for decentralized kidney ...

The role of complement in synaptic degeneration

open access: yes, 2012
Synapse loss is an early event of many neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer?s disease and Parkinson?s disease. The causes and mechanisms that underpin synapse dysfunction and degeneration are poorly understood.

Defect‐Engineered Microwave‐Responsive Ni@C Composites From Waste PET for Catalytic Plastic Upcycling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A circular upcycling strategy transforms waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles into microwave‐responsive Ni@C catalyst featuring lattice‐distorted nickel cores and defective carbon shells. These strain‐rich heterointerfaces enhance dielectric loss and promote localized microwave hotspots, accelerating peroxymonosulfate activation and polymer‐chain

Complement C2 receptor inhibitor trispanning: a novel human complement inhibitory receptor

open access: yes, 2005
The complement system presents a powerful defense against infection and is tightly regulated to prevent damage to self by functionally equivalent soluble and membrane regulators.

Esterified Cholesterol Conjugates Enable LNP‐Mediated mRNA Delivery to the Blood–Brain Barrier Following Intravenous Administration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A cholesterol‐conjugated lipid library enabled the identification of a ligand‐free LNP platform for efficient mRNA delivery to brain endothelial cells via systemic administration. This platform achieves selective BBB targeting without disrupting barrier integrity, and enables modulation of neuroinflammation and vascular function without requiring trans‐

Aggregation‐Controlled Vat Dyeing of Meta‐Aramid Fibers: Mechanistic Insights and Suppression of Surface Dye Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Supramolecular aggregation governs the interfacial adsorption, diffusion, and fixation of anthraquinone‐based vat dyes in meta‐aramid fibers. By correlating reduction chemistry, aggregate formation, and fiber microstructure, a multiscale mechanism for aggregation‐controlled dyeing is established, providing an effective strategy to suppress surface dye ...
