Tax Evasion and Economies in Transition: Lessons from Tax Theory [PDF]

open access: yes
This study considers the pervasive tax evasion of transition economies, with particular reference to Russia’s tax system. Starting with a survey of theoretical literature on tax evasion and corruption, it argues that, although standard tax theory offers ...

An Effector TaCRVP From Tuta Absoluta Oral Secretion Impairs H2O2‐Mediated Plant Defense by Targeting Tomato SlCAT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Tuta absoluta salivary effector TaCRVP subverts tomato immunity by hijacking host catalase SlCAT2. Through a sophisticated dual mechanism, TaCRVP simultaneously promotes SlCAT2 tetramerization for activation and blocks its SlAdBiL‐mediated degradation for stabilization.

Voting on Redistribution with Tax Evasion [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes voting on a linear income tax which is redistributed lump sum to the taxpayers. Individuals can evade taxes, which leads to penalties if evasion is detected.

AL398, A Novel NSUN6 Inhibitor, Attenuates Epithelial‐Mesenchymal Transition and Metastasis in Endometrial Cancer by Abrogating m5C‐Dependent Stabilization of Snail mRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proposed molecular mechanism: NSUN6 catalyzes m5C methylation on Snail mRNA to enhance its stability, leading to Snail upregulation and EMT promotion. The first‐in‐class inhibitor AL398 suppresses endometrial cancer metastasis by targeting the NSUN6‐m5C‐Snail. axis. ABSTRACT Endometrial cancer (EC) constitutes a leading gynecologic malignancy for which

Tax evasion and financial repression: A reconsideration using endogenous growth models [PDF]

open access: yes
Using two dynamic monetary general equilibrium models characterized by endogenous growth, financial repression and endogenously determined tax evasion, we analyze whether financial repression can be explained by tax evasion.

Targeting the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase Axis With Hybrid Nanovesicles Restores Macrophage Rhythms to Reverse Sepsis‐Induced Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis disrupts immune‐cell rhythms and weakens bacterial clearance. Biomimetic nanovesicles combining erythrocyte and inflammation‐activated macrophage membranes deliver siNR1D1 to dysfunctional macrophages, restoring the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase pathway, circadian regulation, phagolysosomal acidification, and antimicrobial defense.

Income tax evasion in a society of heterogeneous agents: Evidence from an agent-based model [PDF]

open access: yes
We analyze the evolution and extent of income tax evasion under alternative governmental policies in an agent-based model with heterogeneous agents. A novel aspect of our modeling is the use of an exponential utility function, which allows us to assume ...

An RNA‐Binding Protein RBMS1 Promotes Endothelial Cell Autophagy to Maintain Vascular Homeostasis and Suppress Deep Vein Thrombosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RBMS1, an RNA‐binding protein, restores vascular endothelial homeostasis by enhancing ATG3‐mediated autophagy, thereby attenuating thrombus formation and suggesting a potential avenue for further therapeutic exploration in DVT. ABSTRACT Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a prevalent vascular disorder characterized by aberrant coagulation within the deep ...

Conserved Surface-Exposed K/R-X-K/R Motifs and Net Positive Charge on Poxvirus Complement Control Proteins Serve as Putative Heparin Binding Sites and Contribute to Inhibition of Molecular Interactions with Human Endothelial Cells: a Novel Mechanism for Evasion of Host Defense [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Vaccinia virus complement control protein (VCP) has been shown to possess the ability to inhibit both classical and alternative complement pathway activation.
