Computing solutions for matching games [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Game Theory, 2011
This paper studies matching games. A matching game is a cooperative game \((N, v)\) defined on a graph \(G = (N, E)\) with \(n=|N|\) vertices, \(m=|E|\) edges, and an edge weighting \(w : E \rightarrow {\mathbb R}_+\). The player set is \(N\) and the value of a coalition \(S\subseteq N\) is defined as the maximum weight of a matching in the subgraph ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A NPC Behaviour Definition System for Use by Programmers and Designers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we describe ZBL/0, a scripting system for defining NPC (Non Player Character) behaviour in FPS (First Person Shooter) games. ZBL/0 has been used to illustrate the use of scripting systems in computer games in general and the scripting of ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

"Minesweeper" and spectrum of discrete Laplacians

open access: yes, 2009
The paper is devoted to a problem inspired by the "Minesweeper" computer game. It is shown that certain configurations of open cells guarantee the existence and the uniqueness of solution. Mathematically the problem is reduced to some spectral properties

Evolutionary games and computer simulations. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1993
The Prisoner's Dilemma has long been considered the paradigm for studying the emergence of cooperation among selfish individuals. Because of its importance, it has been studied through computer experiments as well as in the laboratory and by analytical means. However, there are important differences between the way a system composed of many interacting
