Proximity‐Induced Transfer of a Mass Tag Enables Direct Profiling of Active Matrix Metalloproteases

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A proximity‐induced, mass‐encoded activity‐based protein profiling (ABPP) approach transfers a MALDI‐detectable α‐cyano‐4‐hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) tag directly to active proteases. This tag enables the direct, multiplexed, and quantitative detection of enzyme activity in complex proteomes without enrichment or purification.

Nanoscale Spatial Organization of ARC High‐ and Low‐Order Assemblies at Excitatory Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARC (Activity‐Regulated Cytoskeleton‐Associated protein) mediates synaptic plasticity by forming nanoscale assemblies in neurons. Using super‐resolution microscopy and time‐resolved anisotropy with targeted tagging, the study reveals low‐order ARC assemblies at synapses colocalizing with AMPARs, semi‐circular structures at endocytic zones, and 60–80 nm

Design Rules for Controlling Connectivity, Topology, and Sorting Using Hydrogen‐Bonded Pairs and Aromatic Components in Palladium(II)‐Based Interlocked and Foldameric Systems

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We have established a set of design rules which combine Pd(II) metal coordination, complementary geometries, complementary interligand hydrogen bonding and π─π interactions for predictable self‐assembly of Pd(II)‐based species such as metallo‐foldamers, cyclic species a metallo‐interlocked clippane. The species persist in a combinatorial mixture due to

Abnormal neural responses to social exclusion in schizophrenia.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Social exclusion is an influential concept in politics, mental health and social psychology. Studies on healthy subjects have implicated the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), a region involved in emotional and social information processing, in neural ...

Ethical Emissions Trading and the Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The idea of permit trading in the United States can be traced as far back as the 1970s, but emissions trading has really only became a popular and exportable idea with the more recent demands that environmental protection acknowledge economic ...

Persistently Increased Expression of PKMzeta and Unbiased Gene Expression Profiles Identify Hippocampal Molecular Traces of a Long‐Term Active Place Avoidance Memory and “Shadow” Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein complexes like KIBRA‐PKMζ are crucial for maintaining memories, forming month‐long protein traces in memory‐tagged neurons, but conventional RNA‐seq analysis fails to detect their transcript changes, leaving memory molecules undetected in the shadows of abundantly‐expressed genes.

On a Coronal Blowout Jet: The First Observation of a Simultaneously Produced Bubble-like CME and a Jet-like CME in a Solar Event

open access: yes, 2012
The coronal blowout jet is a peculiar category among various jet phenomena, of which the sheared base arch, often carrying a small filament, experiences a miniature version of blowout eruption that produces large-scale coronal mass ejection (CME).

Spectroscopic Evidence of Edge‐Localized States in an Antiferromagnet Topological Insulator NdBi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spin‐polarized scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) in conjunction with quasiparticle interference, we successfully identify distinct signatures of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic terminations in NdBi, a rare‐earth monopnictide exhibiting non‐trivial topology and magnetism. We demonstrate that step edges on ferromagnetic surfaces host well‐

An Artificial Molecular Pump Powered by Light

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A minimal rotaxane‐based supramolecular system functions as a light‐powered molecular pump, capturing macrocycles from solution and concentrating them within an intramolecular compartment. Repeated azobenzene photoisomerization modulates the binding and kinetic barriers of threading and shuttling, generating a photon‐driven energy ratchet that sustains
