Synthesis of condensed tannin model compounds regioselectively labeled with a 13C-stable isotope
Condensed tannins exhibit diverse bioactivities that render them promising for applications in the food and medical fields. For the analysis and monitoring of condensed tannins, 13C-labeled derivatives would provide a useful tool.

In vitro effects of three woody plant and sainfoin extracts on two parasitic stage of 3 parasitic nematode species [PDF]
Most studies on the effects of tanniferous plants on nematodes have examined forages but have neglected the woody plants. Therefore, in vitro effects of extracts from 3 woody plants (Rubus fructicosus, Quercus robur, Corylus avellana) have been tested on

Root condensed tannins vary over time, but are unrelated to leaf tannins [PDF]
Although the negative effects of root herbivores on plant fitness are expected to be similar to those of above-ground herbivores, the study of below-ground plant defences is limited compared to the rich literature on above-ground defences. Current theory predicts that concentrations of defensive chemicals above- and belowground should be correlated, as

Terminal domains of recombinant collagen‐like silk regulate hierarchical self‐assembly across molecular and material scales. We show that terminal domains of collagen‐like silk enhance triple‐helix stability and drive liquid–liquid phase separation, enabling reversible formation of fibers and self‐healing films.

Bioactive Condensed Tannins from Bark

Structural and Chemical Engineering of Sub‐Nanochannel Membranes Toward Ion Selectivity
This review summarizes recent advances in structural and chemical engineering of sub‐nanochannels for ion selectivity. We first introduce fundamental ion transport mechanisms within sub‐nanochannels, followed by strategies to tune pore size, geometry, and surface functionalities, categorized into charge‐based, ion‐recognition, hydrophilic bonding, and ...

Finishing diets containing 15% DDGS with 0, 0.22, and 0.44% condensed tannin did not affect average daily gain, but linearly increased dry matter intake. Tannin supplementation linearly decreased gain efficiency, and estimated dietary NE.

Correlation between condensed tannin and fiber contents of irradiated pomegranate seed [PDF]
Pomegranate seeds were exposed to electron and gamma irradiations at doses of 5, 10, 15 and 20 kGy to study the relationships between their condensed tannin, NDF, ADF contents, in vitro rumen methane production and protozoa population. Data were
