Piezo2 Mediates a Vicious Cycle of “Mechanical Homeostasis Imbalance—Inflammation” in Sensory Nerves and the Cartilage Endplate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a lumbar spine instability model, dorsal root ganglion cells mediate the perception of relevant mechanical stresses through Piezo2 and subsequently release CGRP. CGRP activates the NF‐κB signaling pathway in cartilage endplate cells through the receptor RAMP1.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

Doubly Robust Direct Learning for Estimating Conditional Average Treatment Effect

open access: yes, 2020
Inferring the heterogeneous treatment effect is a fundamental problem in the sciences and commercial applications. In this paper, we focus on estimating Conditional Average Treatment Effect (CATE), that is, the difference in the conditional mean outcome between treatments given covariates.

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

Integrating Copula-Based Random Forest and Deep Learning Approaches for Analyzing Heterogeneous Treatment Effects in Survival Analysis

open access: yesMathematics
This paper presents deep learning models—specifically, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks and hybrid Convolutional Neural Network–LSTM (CNN-LSTM) with a Copula-Based Random Forest (CBRF) model to estimate Heterogeneous Treatment Effects (HTEs) in ...

rdhte: Conditional Average Treatment Effects in RD Designs

open access: yes
Understanding causal heterogeneous treatment effects based on pretreatment covariates is a crucial aspect of empirical work. Building on Calonico, Cattaneo, Farrell, Palomba, and Titiunik (2025), this article discusses the software package rdhte for estimation and inference of heterogeneous treatment effects in sharp regression discontinuity (RD ...

Moving the Goalposts: Addressing Limited Overlap in Estimation of Average Treatment Effects by Changing the Estimand [PDF]

open access: yes
Estimation of average treatment effects under unconfoundedness or exogenous treatment assignment is often hampered by lack of overlap in the covariate distributions.

Estimating average partial effects under conditional moment independence assumptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
I show how to identify and estimate the average partial effect of explanatory variables in a model where unobserved heterogeneity interacts with the explanatory variables and may be unconditionally correlated with the explanatory variables.
