Digital confocal microscope

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
We demonstrate experimentally a scanning confocal microscopy technique based on digital holography. The method relies on digital holographic recording of the scanned spot. The data collected in this way contains all the necessary information to digitally produce three-dimensional images. Several methods to treat the data are presented.

Confocal Single-Pixel Imaging

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Obtaining depth-selective images requires gating procedures such as spatial, nonlinear, or coherence gating to differentiate light originating from different depths of the volume of interest.

Twin-Photon Confocal Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A recently introduced two-channel confocal microscope with correlated detection promises up to 50% improvement in transverse spatial resolution [Simon, Sergienko, Optics Express {\bf 18}, 9765 (2010)] via the use of photon correlations. Here we achieve similar results in a different manner, introducing a triple-confocal correlated microscope which ...

Performance comparison of aperture-less and confocal infrared microscopes

open access: yesJournal of Spectral Imaging, 2019
We compared hyperspectral infrared raster maps and images for contrast, definition and resolution of the same samples recorded with a confocal microscope coupled with a synchrotron radiation source vs a Focal Plane Array (FPA) detector equipped ...

Reflectance Confocal Microscopy in the Diagnosis of Onychomycosis: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2022
Accurately diagnosing onychomycosis is vital, as therapy is time-consuming and accompanied by multiple adverse effects. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), in contrast to traditional mycological testing, is a noninvasive, point-of-care tool that can ...

Interpretation of Confocal ISO 21073: 2019 confocal microscopes: Optical data of fluorescence confocal microscopes for biological imaging- Recommended Methodology for Quality Control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The performance of a confocal imaging system may be no better than a general-purpose widefield system if it is not properly maintained or quality controlled. The publication of ISO 21073, 'Confocal microscopes- Optical data of fluorescence confocal microscopes for biological imaging', set a standard for the minimal Quality Control (QC) that should be ...

Deep-3D Microscope: 3D volumetric microscopy of thick scattering samples using a wide-field microscope and machine learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Confocal microscopy is the standard approach for obtaining volumetric images of a sample with high axial and lateral resolution, especially when dealing with scattering samples. Unfortunately, a confocal microscope is quite expensive compared to traditional microscopes.

Axially-shifted pattern illumination for macroscale turbidity suppression and virtual volumetric confocal imaging without axial scanning [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 44(4), (2019), 2018
Structured illumination has been widely used for optical sectioning and 3D surface recovery. In a typical implementation, multiple images under non-uniform pattern illumination are used to recover a single object section. Axial scanning of the sample or the objective lens is needed for acquiring the 3D volumetric data.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Bowen’s disease of the penile shaft presenting as a pigmented macule: dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy and histopathological correlation,

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2021
The penile localization of pigmented Bowen’s disease has been rarely reported and has been mostly related to human papillomavirus infection. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent progression to invasive squamous cell carcinoma.
