Self-Knowledge and Knowledge of Content
Canadian Journal of Philosophy, 2008The question of content externalism's compatibility with a plausible account of self-knowledge has been the subject of much debate in recent years. If the very content of my thoughts depends on external factors beyond me, factors that can only be known a posteriori, what happens to the traditional assumption that we know our own thoughts directly ...

Is content knowledge pre-requisite of pedagogical content knowledge? An empirical investigation
Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, 2020Given the scarcity of studies explicitly exploring the often tacit assumption that teachers’ content knowledge (CK) is pre-requisite of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), in this study, we draw on Shulman’s conceptualization of these notions to examine their relation by content-aligning the CK and PCK measures.

Defining Knowledge Constituents and Contents
International Journal of Quality Assurance in Engineering and Technology Education, 2016While it appears that a consensus is crystalising with regard to the hierarchy of concepts such as “knowledge”, “definition” and “information”, there is an increasing urgency for improving definitions of these terms. Strategies such as “knowledge extraction” or “data mining” rely on the increasing availability of digital (electronic) records addressing

Measurement of pedagogical content knowledge
Proceedings of the 8th Workshop in Primary and Secondary Computing Education, 2013Almost 30 years ago, Shulman categorized the knowledge of teachers by several categories including the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK): "It represents the blending of content and pedagogy into an understanding of how particular topics, problems, or issues are organized, represented and adapted to the diverse interests and abilities of learners ...

In Silico Knowledge and Content Tracking
2011This chapter gives a brief overview of text-mining techniques to extract knowledge from large text collections. It describes the basis pipeline of how to come from text to relationships between biological concepts and the problems that are encountered at each step in the pipeline. We first explain how words in text are recognized as concepts.

Knowledge Versus Information Contents
2007 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications, 2007While the information contents of a binary string x can be measured by its prefix Kolmogorov complexity K(x), it is not clear how to measure the knowledge stored in x. In this paper, we argue that the knowledge contained by x is relative to the hypothesis assumed to explain x.
