Synthesis and insecticidal activity of cysteine-free conopeptides from Conus betulinus

Toxicon, 2023
The cone snail Conus betulinus is a vermivorous species that is widely distributed in the South China Sea. Its crude venom contains various peptides used to prey on marine worms. In previous studies, a systematic analysis of the peptide toxin sequences from C. betulinus was carried out using a multiomics technique.

Antioxidant Peptides from the Protein Hydrolysates of Conus betulinus

International Journal of Peptide Research and Therapeutics, 2011
The current study aims at the isolation and characterization of the peptides, believed to have antioxidant activity, from Conus betulinus by using different types of enzymes. The body and viscera of C. betulinus were treated with three enzymes viz. trypsin, pepsin and papain to obtain peptide hydrolysates.

Isolation and Characterization of Conotoxin bt5a from Conus betulinus

Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines, 2010
Abstract Aim To study the chemical constituents of the venom of Conus betulinus that collected from South China Sea. Methods Gel chromatography and HPLC were applied to isolate toxins from the venom of Conus betulinus and a peptide toxin was obtained.

Contryphan-Bt: A pyroglutamic acid containing conopeptide isolated from the venom of Conus betulinus

Toxicon, 2017
A new member of the contryphans family was isolated from the venom of Conus betilinus, a vermivorous species distributed in the South China Sea. Its sequence, ZSGCO(D-W)KPWC-NH2 (Z, pyroglutamic acid), was established by a combination of de novo MS/MS sequencing and venom-duct transcriptome sequencing. The occurrence of D-Trp6 was confirmed by chemical
