Simulation Framework for Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control with Empirical DSRC Module

open access: yes, 2018
Wireless communication plays a vital role in the promising performance of connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technology. This paper proposes a Vissim-based microscopic traffic simulation framework with an analytical dedicated short-range communication

Driving automation: Learning from aviation about design philosophies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Full vehicle automation is predicted to be on British roads by 2030 (Walker et al., 2001). However, experience in aviation gives us some cause for concern for the 'drive-by-wire' car (Stanton and Marsden, 1996). Two different philosophies have emerged in

Impact on Congestion and Fuel Consumption of a Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control System with Lane-Level Position Estimation

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In recent years, vehicular communications systems have evolved and allowed for the improvement of adaptive cruise control (ACC) systems to make them cooperative (cooperative adaptive cruise control, CACC).

Safely Optimizing Highway Traffic with Robust Model Predictive Control-based Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control

open access: yes, 2016
Road traffic crashes have been the leading cause of death among young people. Most of these accidents occur when the driver becomes distracted due to fatigue or external factors.

Alkaline Phosphatase‐Activated NIR‐II AIEgens Nanosystem for Surgical and Postoperative Closed‐Loop Therapy of Advanced Osteosarcoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designed a tumor microenvironment‐responsive AIEgen nanoparticle for near‐infrared photoimmunotherapy, which inhibits primary tumors and metastasis by promoting pyroptosis and suppressing aerobic glycolysis. ABSTRACT In advanced osteosarcoma, tumor invasion often prevents complete resection, and immunotherapy is limited by the tumor's ...

Impacts of connected vehicles in a complex, congested urban freeway setting using multi-resolution modeling methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2019
Determining the effect automated and connected vehicles could have on traffic flow would – ideally – require testing the vehicles themselves in a real-world environment. In the absence of large-scale, real-world testing, researchers used traffic modeling

PD‐L1‐Binding Antigen Presenters: Redirecting Vaccine‐Induced Antibodies for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The PBAP‐gE complex anchors gE antigen to PD‐L1 on tumor cells. Vaccine‐induced anti‐gE antibodies simultaneously engage FcγRIIIa on NK cells and tumor‐bound PBAP‐gE, triggering NK cell activation and antibody‐dependent cellular cytotoxicity, thereby selectively eliminating PD‐L1–expressing tumor cells.

Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control Design and Implementation

open access: yesSAE Technical Paper Series, 2019
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In this manuscript a design and implementation of CACC on an autonomous vehicle platform (2017 Ford Fusion) is presented. The developed CACC controls the intervehicle distance between the target vehicle and ego vehicle using a feedforward PD controller.

Does education policy affect teachers' learning needs? An international comparison of trends in teachers' continuing professional learning needs in secondary schools in Australia, England, Japan and the Netherlands

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Education policy changes are believed to influence teachers' continuing professional learning (CPL) needs, but there is limited empirical evidence to support these claims. This lack of deep understanding has significant practical implications. This study used a new circular conceptual framework to analyse teachers' CPL needs. Leveraging public
