Response of earth and venus ionospheres to corotating solar wind stream of 3 July 1979
Earth, Moon and Planets, 1985Corotating solar wind stream interactions are examined for the earth and Venus in light of data from the plasma detectors aboard ISEE-3, the Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO), and Helios-A, as well as in situ ion composition measurements taken by the mass spectrometers aboard the PVO and Atmosphere Explorer-E spacecraft.

Structure and Dynamics of Corotating and Transient Streams in Three Dimensions
1986This paper reviews current ideas concerning the sources of interplanetary flows and their dynamical revolution, with emphasis on results that are relevant to measurements which will be made by Ulysses.

Generally, a corotating high-speed stream is formed when a high-speed stream (HSS) overtakes the slow wind, originating a corotating interaction region (CIR) upstream and a rarefaction region (RR) downstream. Mainly within CIRs and HSSs, the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) presents wide fluctuations that can lead to the enhancement of geomagnetic ...

Ulysses measurements of energetic solar wind ions (5-23 MeV) associated with the trailing reverse shock found to be consistent with an earlier result obtained by Pioneers. The observations cover the middle latitude region 20-30 deg.of south heliosphere.

From late 2007 to early 2008, a pair of coronal holes lasted for many solar rotations while Earth and Mars were radially aligned. The wind emanating from coronal holes is fast (typically 500-850 km/s) and forms Corotating Interaction Regions (CIRs) as the fast wind runs into slower wind emitted at an earlier time.

Solar and geomagnetic data demonstrate that, at the decay phase of solar activity in 2016, the dominating role in strong geomagnetic perturations was played by long-lived corotating regions of interaction between solar-wind streams with different velocities.

An opportunity to test an MHD one‐dimensional time‐dependent model of corotating solar wind streams presented itself during the period from September 30 to November 25, 1973, when Pioneer 11 and Pioneer 10 were near radial alignment with the sun. This observational period was characterized by five or six corotating interaction regions which streamed ...
