ABSTRACT Type 2 (T2) immunity is classically associated with defense against helminths and environmental threats, from a physiological perspective, and with allergies and eosinophilic inflammatory diseases, in a pathological sense. However, growing evidence reveals that T2 pathways also support other essential homeostatic functions, including tissue ...

Eosinophilia and Hypereosinophilia: A Practical Approach to Navigating a Broad Differential Diagnosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 6, Page 1485-1499, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Eosinophilia, defined as an absolute eosinophil count (AEC) of ≥ 0.5 × 109/L, is a frequently encountered finding with a vast spectrum of potential underlying etiologies. Hypereosinophilia (HE) is defined as AEC > 1.5 × 109/L and may become life‐threatening when eosinophil‐induced organ damage occurs, defining the hypereosinophilic syndrome ...

Low‐Titre ANA Late‐Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Presenting With Pleural Effusion and Markedly Elevated Pleural Adenosine Deaminase Mimicking Tuberculous Pleuritis

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
Pleural effusion with markedly elevated adenosine deaminase levels usually suggests tuberculous pleuritis. We report a case of low‐titre ANA late‐onset systemic lupus erythematosus presenting with lymphocyte‐predominant pleural effusion and markedly elevated ADA levels mimicking tuberculosis.
