Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema in a tyre industry worker

open access: yesLung India, 2012
We report a case of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) with severe pulmonary hypertension in a 46-year-old man, nonsmoker, tyre industry worker. CPFE is commonly reported to be associated with tobacco smoking.

Lung cancer in combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema: a large retrospective cohort analysis

open access: yesERJ Open Research, 2020
Background Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) is characterised by upper lobe emphysema and lower lobe fibrosis. Our study aim was to determine the incident risk, presenting characteristics and outcome of lung cancer diagnoses in a cohort of

Smoking‐Related Clinical and Molecular Abnormalities in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis—Associated Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a frequent complication of interstitial lung diseases (ILD) that worsens morbidity and mortality. Cigarette smoking has a detrimental effect on transplant‐free survival of patients with ILD, including patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Analysis of clinical characteristics and prognosis of lung cancer patients with CPFE or COPD: a retrospective study

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background Lung cancer (LC) commonly occurs in patients with combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but comparative research is limited. This study examines clinical characteristics, treatments,

Noninvasive Gas Exchange Determinants of Exercise Hemodynamics in Non‐Severe Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Level 3 cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) can unmask the dynamic burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD), while submaximal exercise testing offers a simpler, noninvasive alternative. Emerging markers such as a gas‐exchange derived estimate of pulmonary vascular capacitance (GXCAP) and ventilatory efficiency (VE/VCO2) may reflect PVD ...

Quantum State‐Resolved Photodissociation Dynamics Study of Transition‐Metal Carbonyl and Nitrosyl

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2026.
State‐resolved scattering measurements provide experimental visualization of nuclear motions in reacting molecules. Carbonyls and nitrosyls are typical ligands in most of the transition‐metal complexes, which undergo dissociation upon visible and ultraviolet photoexcitation.

Exploring the Potential of Zero‐Dimensional Carbon Nanomaterials in Photoluminescent, Electrochemiluminescent and Electrochemical Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 11, 9 June 2026.
Zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials are presented as multifunctional platforms linking structure, property, and sensing performance. Surface engineering and heteroatom doping modulate electron‐transfer and luminescent behavior, enabling electrochemical, photoluminescent, and electrochemiluminescent detection. Fundamental design principles, analytical

Imaging Diagnosis of Interstitial Pneumonia with Emphysema (Combined Pulmonary Fibrosis and Emphysema)

open access: yesPulmonary Medicine, 2012
Based on clinical and radiological findings, Cottin defined combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) as pulmonary emphysema in the upper lungs and interstitial pneumonia in the lower lungs with various radiological patterns.

[FeFe]‐Hydrogenase Mimics Bearing Germylene Ligands: Synthesis, Protonation, and Electrochemical Properties

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 6, June 2026.
Protonation dynamics and spectroscopic detection of elusive intermediates in [FeFe]‐hydrogenase mimics bearing germylene ligands reveal key roles of ligand basicity in catalytic behavior. This work shows that the presence of germylene ligands of marked basicity in [FeFe]‐hydrogenase mimics of the type [Fe2(µ‐S2X)(E)n(CO)6–n] (S2X = (SCH2)2N(p‐MeOC6H4) (

Differentiating combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema from pure emphysema: utility of late gadolinium-enhanced MRI

open access: yesEuropean Radiology Experimental, 2020
Background Differentiating combined pulmonary fibrosis with emphysema (CPFE) from pure emphysema can be challenging on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT). This has antifibrotic therapy implications.
