Calculation of line singularity fields near a crack tip

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1987
Near-crack-tip elastic fields are of primary importance in all crack propagation theories. Besides external loads, the near-tip field is determined by internal stress sources such as dislocations and other defectsIn particular, recent works (1-5) have pointed out that dislocations shield crack tips against applied loads, because they remarkably alter ...

The elastic crack-tip stress field

1982
Consider a coordinate system X, Y, Z in a stressed solid. In each point (x, y, z) one can define the stresses σ x , σ y , σ z , τ xy , τ xz , τ yz . In a condition of plane stress σ z = τ xz = τ yz = 0. In a condition of plane strain e z = 0 from which it follows that σ z = v(σ x + σ y ).

Stress Field Around a Rounded Crack Tip

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1991
A method based on the eigenfunction (Williams stress functions) expansion is developed to examine the stress distribution around the tip region of a macrocrack which has some specific micro configuration. In particular, a macrocrack running into a micro hole under mode I condition is analyzed in detail.
