The present study aimed to investigate whether skeletal muscle from whole body creatine transporter (CrT; SLC6A8) knockout mice (CrT-/y) actually contained creatine (Cr) and if so, whether this Cr could result from an up regulation of muscle Cr ...

Ammonia toxicity to the brain and creatine. [PDF]
Symptoms of hyperammonemia are age-dependent and some are reversible. Multiple mechanisms are involved. Hyperammonemia increases the uptake of tryptophan into the brain by activation of the L-system carrier while brain glutamine plays a still undefined ...

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Creatine and guanidinoacetate transport at blood-brain and blood-cerebrospinal fluid barriers [PDF]
While it was thought that most of cerebral creatine is of peripheral origin, AGAT and GAMT are well expressed in CNS where brain cells synthesize creatine.

Pharmacometabolomic mapping of early biochemical changes induced by sertraline and placebo. [PDF]
In this study, we characterized early biochemical changes associated with sertraline and placebo administration and changes associated with a reduction in depressive symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).

X-Linked Creatine-Transporter Gene (SLC6A8) Defect: A New Creatine-Deficiency Syndrome [PDF]
We report the first X-linked creatine-deficiency syndrome caused by a defective creatine transporter. The male index patient presented with developmental delay and hypotonia. Proton magnetic-resonance spectroscopy of his brain revealed absence of the creatine signal.

PCTM microspheres were successfully synthesized using microfluidic and click chemistry techniques. In Vivo and in vitro experiments have shown that PCTM microspheres have obvious targeting, adhesion, membrane penetration and anti‐tumor properties for bladder tumors. The antitumor mechanism of PCTM microspheres is to indirectly induce S‐stage blockage of ...
