Neuro‐Immune Crosstalk: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Neurons, immune cells, and other cellular components within the disease microenvironment (such as stromal cells and tumor cells) constitute a dynamically evolving ecosystem. Neurons directly modulate immune cell activity and inflammatory responses through the release of neurotransmitters (e.g., norepinephrine and CGRP), while also promoting tumor ...

Involvement of Polyamines From Cardiac Mast Cells in Myocardial Remodeling Induced by Pressure Overload Through Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore Opening

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
ObjectivePolyamines mainly contain spermine (SPM), spermidine (SPD), and putrescine (PUT). Many research results suggest that polyamines participate in cell proliferation, differentiation, and the regulation of gene expression, and have a close ...

Retinoic Acid Reprograms Mast Cells Toward a Proinflammatory State to Enhance Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, 30 January 2026.
Proinflammatory mast cells represent an MHC‐IIhigh, cytokine‐producing mast cell subset associated with improved survival and enhanced responses to anti‐PD‐1 therapy. Retinoic acid drives their polarization, enabling antigen uptake and presentation, and T cell recruitment and activation, collectively promoting adaptive anti‐tumor immunity.

Quercetin Attenuates Trauma-Induced Heterotopic Ossification by Tuning Immune Cell Infiltration and Related Inflammatory Insult

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Heterotopic ossification (HO) is one of the most intractable disorders following musculoskeletal injury and is characterized by the ectopic presence of bone tissue in the soft tissue leading to severe loss of function in the extremities.

Zizhu Ointment Inhibits IgE–FcεRI Signaling‐Mediated Mast Cell Degranulation to Promote the Healing of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Diabetic ulcers, a serious complication associated with diabetes, present a significant therapeutic challenge due to their recurrent and persistent chronic inflammation. A crucial factor contributing to this sustained inflammation is mast cell degranulation.

The Dietary Polyphenol Resveratrol in Intestinal Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury: From Multifaceted Protective Mechanisms to Clinical Translation Challenges [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
Intestinal ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury is a life‐threatening condition with mortality approaching 50%, driven by oxidative stress, inflammatory cascades, ferroptosis, and intestinal barrier disruption that ultimately precipitates distant organ dysfunction.
