Single‐Cell Virtual Perturbation Screening Identifies STAT3 as a Key Regulator of Dentinogenesis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 8, August 2026.
STAT3 promotes odontoblast differentiation in dental mesenchymal cells by transcriptionally regulating WNT2B via the canonical Wnt/β‐catenin signalling pathway. These findings elucidate a mechanism underlying dentine development. ABSTRACT Dentine formation constitutes a physiological process precisely regulated by signal transduction modules governing ...

CTHRC1 activates pro-tumorigenic signaling pathways in hepatocellular carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesOncotarget, 2017
CTHRC1 expression is involved in invasion and metastasis in various tumors. However, the molecules involved in its signaling pathways in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain elusive. The migration and invasion abilities of HCC cells stably expressing CTHRC1 were assessed in vitro and in vivo with a mouse model. Moreover, signaling pathways involved in

Proteolytic remodelling of the extracellular matrix by pericytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 13, Page 3899-3953, July 2026.
Pericytes are specialised perivascular cells intimately connected with endothelial cells and essential for the maintenance of vascular beds. They contribute to the formation and remodelling of the extracellular matrix by actively secreting proteases and protease inhibitors.

Acute Lung Injury: From Molecular Circuits to System‐Level Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This visual summary illustrates the paradigm shift from linear pathways to network medicine in ALI. Three interconnected circuits—innate immunity, immunometabolism, and cell death (PANoptosis)—drive disease progression under multiorgan crosstalk (gut–lung, brain–lung).

Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1 negatively regulated by microRNA-30c promotes cell proliferation and metastasis and indicates poor prognosis in breast cancer

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2017
Background Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1 (CTHRC1), which was firstly identified overexpressed in the adventitia and neointima of injured rat arteries, could inhibit collagen expression and increase cell migration.

BGN/MDK Axis in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment Strengthens Tumor Malignancy by Modulating Cancer Cells and Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
This study reveals that m6A regulators cooperatively upregulate BGN in melanoma, promoting malignancy. Within the tumor microenvironment, CAFs show highest BGN expression. The BGN/MDK axis mediates cancer‐stroma crosstalk, driving normal fibroblast (NF) activation and enhancing the pro‐tumor effect of CAFs, highlighting a promising therapeutic target ...

CTHRC1: A Target Enabling Package

open access: yes
CTHRC1 is a novel member of the collagen family that was identified with other collagen isoforms within the deep brain proteomics studies on postmortem brains in which it mapped onto a core proteomic module linked with cognitive decline and AD neuropathological progression (1).

CTHRC1 Acts as a Prognostic Factor and Promotes Invasiveness of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors by Activating Wnt/PCP-Rho Signaling

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2014
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the major gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors with a variable malignancy ranging from a curable disorder to highly malignant sarcomas. Metastasis and recurrence are the main causes of death in GIST patients. To

Decoding the Cardiac Immune Microenvironment and Fibroblast Crosstalk in Radiotherapy Combined with Immunotherapy‐Induced Cardiac Fibrosis Based on Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
This study highlights that radioimmunotherapy drives crosstalk between fibroblasts and immune cells (especially macrophages) in the cardiac microenvironment, with IL‐6 as the key mediator, and tocilizumab alleviates cardiac fibrosis by targeting this interplay.

Cthrc1, a Novel Hormone Involved in Regulation of Metabolism

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2013
We discovered Cthrc1 in a screen of balloon injured arteries. It is induced in adventitial cells of injured arteries and expressed in many developing and remodeling tissues. In this study we address the role of Cthrc1 in normal adult tissues. We generated mutant mice with a novel Cthrc1 null allele, which appeared developmentally normal.
