Exogenous IAA application alleviated altered physiological and biochemical processes through promoting H‐ATPase and Fe chelate reductase activities in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) subjected to iron deficiency

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Exogenous IAA supply enhances the strategy I response in common bean under iron deficiency. Abstract Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder observed in calcareous soils, where its resolution by classical methods has shown its failure. However, the exploitation of certain potentialities possessed by crops (rhizosphere acidification, H‐ATPase ...

Hemagglutinating and acid phosphatase (AcPASE) activities in developing seedlings of four species of Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
The acid phosphatase and hemagglutinating activities of four species of Cucurbitaceae were determined during seeds germination and seedlings development. In all cases traces of enzyme and hemagglutinating activities were found in dry and imbibided seeds.

Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus: A persistent seed‐borne threat to cucurbits

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 1, July 2026.
Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) is a highly stable, seed‐borne tobamovirus that threatens global cucurbit production. Its efficient mechanical and seed transmission, long‐term environmental persistence, and the spread of Clade II CGMMV isolates drive its rapid dissemination and cause severe yield losses.

New Integrative Vectors Increase Agrobacterium rhizogenes Transformation and Help Characterise Roles for Soybean GmTML Gene Family Members

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 3824-3836, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Hairy‐root transformation is widely used to generate transgenic plant roots for genetic functional characterisation studies. However, transformation efficiency can be limited, largely due to the use of binary vectors. Here, we report on the development of novel integrative vectors that significantly increase the transformation efficiency of ...

A Roadmap for Breeding Sweet Tomatoes

open access: yesModern Agriculture, Volume 4, Issue 1, June 2026.
This graphical abstract outlines four breeding strategies for enhancing sugar content and sweetness in tomato fruits: (1) Identification of key genes and functional variant loci regulating fruit sugar accumulation through systematic germplasm collection, genome‐wide association studies (GWAS), map‐based cloning, and reverse genetics approaches.

Primer registro de Diaphnia indica (Saunders, 1851) Diaphania indica (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) En el cultivo de pepuno en Venezuela. First report of Diaphania indica (Saunders, 1851) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) on cucumber in Venezuela

open access: yesBioagro, 2004
