Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Pentacarbonyl(imidazolidine-2-thione-κS)tungsten(0)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title complex, [W(C3H6N2S)(CO)5], the W atom displays an octahedral coordination with five CO molecules and an imidazolidine-2-thione molecule. The W(CO)5 unit is coordinated by the cyclic thione ligand through a W—S dative bond.

Ionic‐Electronic Hydrogel‐Liquid Metal Composite Bilayer with Tissue‐Adaptive and Adhesive Properties for Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel–liquid metal composite peripheral nerve interface (HLB‐PNI) combines electrically durable electrodes and tissue‐adhesive hydrogel for tissue‐adaptive implantation. In nerve‐injured rats, it enables the diagnosis of sensory‐motor connectivity via stimulation and neural signal recording.

Bis(4-carbamoylpiperidinium) biphenyl-4,4′-disulfonate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title isonipecotamide salt 2C6H13N2O+·C12H8O6S22−, the asymmetric unit comprises one biphenyl-4,4′-disulfonate dianion which lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and another in a general position [dihedral ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

ATP mediates both activation and inhibition of K(ATP) channel activity via cAMP-dependent protein kinase in insulin-secreting cell lines. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The single-channel recording technique was employed to investigate the mechanism conferring ATP sensitivity to a metabolite-sensitive K channel in insulin-secreting cells.

Sensorized Engineered Tissues with Built‐in Thermoregulation and Nutrient Supply

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a granular hydrogel‐based tissue engineering platform that includes a closed‐loop temperature control to maintain 37°C and sustainably releases nutrients, thereby enabling cells to retain a high viability even if stored at room temperature for up to 24 h.

Continuous growth of proximal tubular kidney epithelial cells in hormone-supplemented serum-free medium. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
An epithelial cell line from pig kidney (LLC-PK1) with properties of proximal tubular cells can be maintained indefinitely in hormone-supplemented serum-free medium. Continuous growth requires the presence of seven factors: transferrin, insulin, selenium,

Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of
