Lewis acid catalyzed transfer hydromethallylation for the construction of quaternary carbon centers [PDF]
The design and gram‐scale synthesis of a cyclohexa‐1,4‐diene‐based surrogate of isobutene gas is reported. Using the highly electron‐deficient Lewis acid B(C6F5)3, application of this surrogate in the hydromethallylation of electron‐rich styrene ...

Femtosecond β-cleavage dynamics: Observation of the diradical intermediate in the nonconcerted reactions of cyclic ethers [PDF]
Femtosecond (fs) dynamics of reactions of cyclic ethers, symmetric and asymmetric structures, are reported. The diradical intermediates and their beta-cleavages, which involve simultaneous C-C, C-H sigma-bond breakage and C-O, C-C pi-bond formation, are ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

REACTIONS OF CYCLIC OXIDES UNDER BIFUNCTIONAL HETEROGENEOUS ACID-BASE CATALYSIS
The reactions of cyclic epoxides form the basis for many industrial chemical technology processes. Unlike simple ethers, oxiranes tend to undergo nucleophilic cleavage reactions. The chemical properties of cyclic alkanes are primarily determined by their

Cyclic and Macrocyclic Organic Compounds - a Personal Review in Honor of Professor Leopold Ružička [PDF]
Ružička opened the field of cyclic molecules such as cyclic terpenes and cyclic ketones with up to 17 ring atoms. This work until now was extended in many directions such as cyclic paraffins, crown ethers and cryptands and cyclic ester amides.

High turnover in electro-oxidation of alcohols and ethers with a glassy carbon-supported phenanthroimidazole mediator. [PDF]
Glassy carbon electrodes covalently modified with a phenanthroimidazole mediator promote electrochemical alcohol and ether oxidation: three orders of magnitude increase in TON, to ∼15 000 in each case, was observed compared with homogeneous mediated ...

Factors Dictating Carbene Formation at (PNP)Ir [PDF]
The mechanistic subtleties involved with the interaction of an amido/bis(phosphine)-supported (PNP)Ir fragment with a series of linear and cyclic ethers have been investigated using density functional theory.

Low Catalyst Loadings in Olefin Metathesis: Synthesis of Nitrogen Heterocycles by Ring-Closing Metathesis [PDF]
A series of ruthenium catalysts have been screened under ring-closing metathesis (RCM) conditions to produce five-, six-, and seven-membered carbamate-protected cyclic amines. Many of these catalysts demonstrated excellent RCM activity and yields with as
