Nonbinary LDPC-Coded Modulation System in High-Speed Mobile Communications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
As a class of capacity-approaching codes, nonbinary low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have attracted much attention because of noticeable performance.

Brushes of semiflexible polymers in equilibrium and under flow in super-hydrophobic regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We performed molecular dynamics simulations to study equilibrium and flow properties of a liquid in a nano-channel with confining surfaces coated with a layer of grafted semiflexible polymers.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Mobility restrictions in response to local epidemic outbreaks in rock-paper-scissors models

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity
We study a three-species cyclic model whose organisms are vulnerable to contamination with an infectious disease which propagates person-to-person. We consider that individuals of one species perform a self-preservation strategy by reducing the mobility ...

Effect Of Initial Stress Anisotropy on The Cyclic Behaviour of Sand [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2005
Due mainly to the process of deposition under earth gravity , the behavior of in situ sand is inherently anisotropic , meaning the stress - strain - strength relations for the same sand may vary as the stress tensor rotates relative to the orientation of

Zealots tame oscillations in the spatial rock-paper-scissors game [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The rock-paper-scissors game is a paradigmatic model for biodiversity, with applications ranging from microbial populations to human societies. Research has shown, however, that mobility jeopardizes biodiversity by promoting the formation of spiral waves,

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Worker-Job Matches, Job Mobility, and Real Wage Cyclicality [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2003
Using the British New Earnings Survey Panel Data (NESPD), this paper examines male and female real wage cyclicality over the period 1975–2001. Estimation is undertaken separately for job stayers and job movers. ‘Stayers’ are defined with respect to single jobs within the company, while ‘movers’ refers to individuals changing jobs both within and ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
