Paracrine ADP Ribosyl Cyclase-Mediated Regulation of Biological Processes [PDF]

open access: yesCells, 2022
ADP-ribosyl cyclases (ADPRCs) catalyze the synthesis of the Ca2+-active second messengers Cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) and ADP-ribose (ADPR) from NAD+ as well as nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP+) from NADP+. The best characterized ADPRC

Molecular characterization of a novel intracellular ADP-ribosyl cyclase. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
BackgroundADP-ribosyl cyclases are remarkable enzymes capable of catalyzing multiple reactions including the synthesis of the novel and potent intracellular calcium mobilizing messengers, cyclic ADP-ribose and NAADP.

A versatile platform for chemical engineering of exosomes empowered by ADP-ribosyl cyclases [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Cell-secreted exosomes have been emerging as an increasingly attractive form of nanomaterials for biomedical research. Various approaches have been established to genetically modify exosomes with proteins of interest for new and/or improved functions ...

L-thyroxine modifies nephrotoxicity by regulating the apoptotic pathway: The possible role of CD38/ADP-ribosyl cyclase-mediated calcium mobilization. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Thyroid hormones are well-established as a key regulator of many cellular metabolic pathways developed in various pathogeneses. Here, we dedicated the current work to investigate the role of thyroid hormone analogue (L-thyroxine, L-TH) in regulating the ...

The Na+/K+-ATPase β1 Subunit is a Kidney ADP-Ribosyl Cyclase. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
This study highlights that the β1 subunit of Na, K‐ATPase, known as Atp1b1, functions as an ADP‐ribosyl cyclase in rat kidney (kARC). We found that reducing Atp1b1 expression in mouse mesangial cells suppressed angiotensin II (AngII)–induced synthesis of cyclic ADP‐ribose (cADPR) and the associated sustained Ca2+ signaling.

Type III CD38 is present in the membrane of neurosecretory vesicles and has a cytosol-facing catalytic domain in primate oxytocin neurons. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Neuroendocrinol
Abstract CD38, an ADP‐ribosyl cyclase that generates cyclic ADP‐ribose (cADPR), is essential for Ca2+‐dependent oxytocin release. However, its subcellular localisation and membrane topology within oxytocin neurones have remained unclear. We investigated the distribution and orientation of CD38 in oxytocin‐producing neurones of Japanese macaques (Macaca

Emerging Roles of Adenosine Metabolism in Astrocytes During Brain Injury. [PDF]

open access: yesCNS Neurosci Ther
Adenosine, as a key metabolic and neurotransmitter in the brain, has become an important therapeutic target for improving the efficacy of immunotherapy for stroke. However, gaps in knowledge about its metabolic pathways have become a key factor limiting its clinical translation.

Rising of intracellular NAD+ level and oppositely directed changes in CD38 expression in hippocampal cells in experimental Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesСибирский научный медицинский журнал, 2021
The aim of the study was to assess the level of NAD+ in the brain of mice treated with beta-amyloid (Aβ), as well as to determine the activity of ADP-ribosyl cyclase/CD38 and the number of CD38-immunopositive neurons, astrocytes and endothelial cells ...

Quantitative and causal analysis for inflammatory genes and the risk of Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
BackgroundThe dysfunction of immune system and inflammation contribute to the Parkinson’s disease (PD) pathogenesis. Cytokines, oxidative stress, neurotoxin and metabolism associated enzymes participate in neuroinflammation in PD and the genes involved ...
