Natural Occurring and Engineered Enzymes for Peptide Ligation and Cyclization

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
The renaissance of peptides as prospective therapeutics has fostered the development of novel strategies for their synthesis and modification. In this context, besides the development of new chemical peptide ligation approaches, especially the use of ...

Synthesis of 4-(Phenylchalcogenyl)tetrazolo[1,5-a]quinolines by Bicyclization of 2-Azidobenzaldehydes with Phenylchalcogenylacetonitrile

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
A general methodology to access valuable 4-(phenylchalcogenyl)tetrazolo[1,5-a]quinolines was developed by the reaction of 2-azidobenzaldehyde with phenylchalcogenylacetonitriles (sulfur and selenium) in the presence of potassium carbonate (20 mol%) as a ...

Oxidative Azo–Ene Cyclization

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2016
An expedient procedure for catalytic oxidative azo-ene cyclization of allylic and homoallylic 1,2-hydrazinedicarboxylates is reported. The reaction produced a wide range of cyclic carbamate derivatives featuring an appended alkene fragment ready for further functionalization.

The effect of host structure on the selectivity and mechanism of supramolecular catalysis of Prins cyclizations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The effect of host structure on the selectivity and mechanism of intramolecular Prins reactions is evaluated using K12Ga4L6 tetrahedral catalysts. The host structure was varied by modifying the structure of the chelating moieties and the size of the ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Enantioselective cyclizations and cyclization cascades of samarium ketyl radicals

open access: yesNature Chemistry, 2017
The rapid generation of molecular complexity from simple starting materials is a key challenge in synthesis. Enantioselective radical cyclization cascades have the potential to deliver complex, densely packed, polycyclic architectures, with control of three-dimensional shape, in one step.

Mechanism, reactivity, and selectivity of nickel-catalyzed [4 + 4 + 2] cycloadditions of dienes and alkynes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations with B3LYP and M06 functionals elucidated the reactivities of alkynes and Z/E selectivity of cyclodecatriene products in the Ni-catalyzed [4 + 4 + 2] cycloadditions of dienes and alkynes.

Patient‐Level Barriers and Facilitators to Inpatient Physical Therapy in Adolescents and Young Adults With a Hematological Malignancy: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite their increased risk for functional impairment resulting from cancer and its treatments, few adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with a hematological malignancy receive the recommended or therapeutic dose of exercise per week during inpatient hospitalizations.
