Divergent behavior of hydrogen sulfide pools and of the sulfur metabolite lanthionine, a novel uremic toxin, in dialysis patients. [PDF]
Dialysis patients display a high cardiovascular mortality, the causes of which are still not completely explained, but are related to uremic toxicity.

Cystathionine γ-Lyase Self-Inactivates by Polysulfidation during Cystine Metabolism
Cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) is an enzyme responsible for the biosynthesis of cysteine from cystathionine in the final step of the transsulfuration pathway. It also has β-lyase activity toward cystine, generating cysteine persulfide (Cys-SSH). The chemical reactivity of Cys-SSH is thought to be involved in the catalytic activity of particular proteins ...

Cysteine attracts interest due to its unique electrochemical activity and emerging relationship with disulfidptosis. This study develops a new electrochemical nanosensor, which represents the first of its kind capable of detecting intracellular cysteine for various types of tumor cells and primary tumor cells in mice to evaluate disulfidptosis ...

Biosynthesis of H2S is impaired in non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice [PDF]
Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) has been involved in cardiovascular homoeostasis but data about its role in animal models of diabetic pathology are still lacking.

Role of selenium in the pathophysiology of cardiorenal anaemia syndrome
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have multiple bidirectional mechanisms, and anaemia is one of the critical factors that are associated with the progression of the two disorders [referred to as cardiorenal anaemia syndrome (CRAS)].

Dietary Methionine Restriction Regulates Liver Protein Synthesis and Gene Expression Independently of Eukaryotic Initiation Factor 2 Phosphorylation in Mice [PDF]
Background: The phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (p-eIF2) during dietary amino acid insufficiency reduces protein synthesis and alters gene expression via the integrated stress response (ISR).Objective: We explored whether a Met ...

LCN2 mediates the suppression of C2C12 myoblast proliferation and myotube formation via erastin‐induced ferroptosis. Mechanistically, the LCN2‐ACOD1 axis regulates skeletal muscle growth via mitochondria‐associated ferroptosis, providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and therapy of muscle‐related diseases.
