Practical recommendations for treating patients with chronic kidney disease in Australia: a multidisciplinary approach

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant public health challenge in Australia, affecting ~10% of the adult population and contributing to substantial morbidity and mortality. Diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and CKD frequently co‐exist; therefore, a multidisciplinary approach is necessary to manage these ...

Safety of anagliptin/metformin combination tablets evaluated by non‐inferiority between pre‐ and post‐serum lactic acid levels in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes and moderate renal impairment (AMELIO STUDY)

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
To investigate the safety of anagliptin/metformin combination tablets in Japanese patients of type 2 diabetes with moderate renal impairment. This study demonstrates that the fixed‐dose combination of anagliptin and metformin can be used safely in patients with type 2 diabetes complicated by moderate renal dysfunction.

Serum CTRP3 and CysC correlate with glucose, lipid, and bone metabolism in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with osteoporosis

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Serum levels of CTRP3 and CysC in elderly patients with T2DM and OP are closely associated with glucose‐lipid metabolism, bone mineral density, and bone metabolism markers. Combined detection of these two markers can assist in distinguishing OP in elderly patients with T2DM.

Serum cystatin C: A surrogate marker for the characteristics of peritoneal membrane in dialysis patients

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, 2009
To evaluate whether cystatin C levels can be a surrogate marker of creatinine clearance and reflect the characteristics of peritoneal membrane in dialysis patients, we performed peritoneal equilibration tests (PET) in 18 anuric adult chronic peritoneal ...

Investigation of serum cystatin C levels and their diagnostic value in combination with inflammatory ratios in patients with bipolar disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
BackgroundIt is thought that inflammation significantly contributes to the development of bipolar disorder (BD), and recent findings indicate a connection between cystatin C and immune-related inflammation. In this study, we investigated serum cystatin C

Association between Cystatin C and MRI Measures of Left Ventricular Structure and Function: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nephrology, 2011
Introduction. Reduced kidney function, approximated by elevated cystatin C, is associated with diastolic dysfunction, heart failure, and cardiovascular mortality; however, the precise mechanism(s) that account for these relationships remains unclear ...

Assessing the exercise‐related kinetics of circulating cell‐free DNA, circulating tumour DNA, DNase I activity and cytokines in patients with solid tumours: A pilot study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Circulating cell‐free DNA (cfDNA), circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) and inflammatory cytokines have prognostic and predictive value in oncology. However, the effects of acute exercise on cfDNA levels are unknown. Here, we explore the kinetics of cfDNA, ctDNA and cytokines upon an incremental exercise test in a pilot cohort of cancer patients ...
