The Molecular Toolbox for Linkage Type‐Specific Analysis of Ubiquitin Signaling
Ubiquitin modifications regulate virtually all aspects of eukaryotic cell biology through an array of polyubiquitin chain signals that adopt distinct structures, enabling the individual polyubiquitin linkages to mediate specific functions in cells.

The abc-conjecture is true for at least $N(c), 1 \leq N(c) <φ(c)/2$, partitions a, b of c [PDF]
We prove that for any positive integer c there are at least N(c), $1\leq N(c) < \phi(c)/2$ representations of c as a sum of two positive integers a, b, with no common divisor, such that the N(c) radicals R(abc) are all greater than kc, where k an absolute constant.

Several extremal problems on graphs involving the circumference, girth, and hyperbolicity constant [PDF]
To compute the hyperbolicity constant is an almost intractable problem, thus it is natural to try to bound it in terms of some parameters of the graph. Let $\mathcal{G}(g,c,n)$ be the set of graphs $G$ with girth $g(G)=g$, circumference $c(G)=c$, and $n$ vertices; and let $\mathcal{H}(g,c,m)$ be the set of graphs with girth $g$, circumference $c$, and $

Estimation of glomerular filtration rate from serum creatinine and cystatin C in octogenarians and nonagenarians [PDF]
Background: Equations to estimate GFR have not been well validated in the elderly and may misclassify persons with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We measured GFR and compared the performance of the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), the Chronic

Serum cystatin C levels are associated with triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio in adolescent girls ages between 16-19 years old [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: The pathophysiological role of cystatin C in cardiometabolic disorders is not completely explored in young population. On the other hand, together with the increase in obesity, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance (IR) are often observed even ...

Neuroprotection mediated by cystatin C-loaded extracellular vesicles
Cystatin C (CysC) is implicated in neuroprotection and repair in the nervous system in response to diverse neurotoxic conditions. In addition to being secreted from cells in a soluble form, CysC is released by cells in association with extracellular ...

Contemporary Perspectives on Chronic Renal Disorders
ABSTRACT The prevalence of renal diseases and its associated burden on healthcare have tremendously risen in the past few years. From simple markers assessing kidney function, current renal research delves into understanding the diseases at the cellular and molecular levels and not just at treating, but at improving quality of life, arresting ...

Single-parton scattering versus double-parton scattering in the production of two $c \bar c$ pairs and charmed meson correlations at the LHC [PDF]
We compare results of exact calculations of single parton scattering (SPS) and double parton scattering (DPS) for production of $c \bar c c \bar c$ and for $D$ meson correlations. The SPS calculations are performed in collinear approximation with exact matrix element for $g g \to c \bar c c \bar c$ and $q \bar q \to c \bar c c \bar c$ subprocesses.

Certification of Cystatin C in the Human Serum Reference Material ERM-DA471/IFCC - Certified Reference Material ERM®-DA471/IFCC [PDF]
The production of ERM-DA471/IFCC, certified for the mass concentration of cystatin C, is described. Serum was produced from blood collected in 2 collection centres according to a procedure ensuring that it was obtained from healthy donors, and that the ...

Cystatin C in aging and in Alzheimer’s disease [PDF]
Under normal conditions, the function of catalytically active proteases is regulated, in part, by their endogenous inhibitors, and any change in the synthesis and/or function of a protease or its endogenous inhibitors may result in inappropriate protease activity.
