Novel Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitors Homologous to the Proregions of Cysteine Proteinases
Current Protein & Peptide Science, 2002Propeptides of papain-like cysteine proteinases such as papain, cathepsins B, L and S are potent inhibitors of their cognate cysteine proteinases with Ki values in the nanomolar range, and they exhibit highest inhibition selectivity for enzymes from which they originate. Recent studies have identified novel inhibitor proteins that are homologous to the

Cysteine proteinase inhibitors in human placenta
Placenta, 1985When human placental extract was chromatographed on a Sephadex G-75 column, cysteine proteinase inhibitors with molecular weights of 80 000 and 12 300 were eluted. The high molecular weight peak (CPI-H) was identified as alpha-cysteine proteinase inhibitor.

Cysteine proteinase inhibitor levels in semen
Clinical Biochemistry, 1986New proteinase inhibitors have recently been found in seminal plasma which specifically inhibit cysteine proteinases such as ficin, papain, cathepsin H and cathepsin B. The inhibitors consist of two components, In-A and In-B, both of which are effective in native semen.

Cysteine proteinase inhibitors in psoriatic epidermis
Archives of Dermatological Research, 1983Human psoriatic epidermis and scales were demonstrated to contain two antigenically separate cysteine proteinase inhibitors, one acidic with an isoelectric point of 4.7-5.0 (ACPI) and one neutral with an isoelectric point of 6.0-6.5 (NCPI), while normal epidermis contains only ACPI.

Cysteine proteinase inhibitors of the canine intervertebral disc
BBA - Proteins and Proteomics, 1988Several species of cysteine proteinase inhibitors have been demonstrated in the greyhound intervertebral disc which were resolved into four species (Mr 15,800, 16,600, 17,200 and 17,800) by gelatin-SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Reductive alkylation did not affect their inhibitory capability nor their electrophoretic migration on gelatin-SDS ...

Bombyx cysteine proteinase inhibitor (BCPI) is a novel cysteine proteinase inhibitor. The protein sequence is homologous to the proregions of certain cysteine proteinases. Here we report the mechanism of its inhibition of several cysteine proteinases.

Inhibitors of 3C Cysteine Proteinases from Picornaviridae
Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2004The Picornaviridae are among the smallest icosahedral positive-sense single stranded RNA containing viruses known, and comprise one of the largest and most important families of human and animal pathogens. The hepatitis A virus (HAV) and human rhinovirus (HRV) are important pathogens that belong to the picornavirus family.

Acidic Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitor in Seminal Plasma
Biological Chemistry Hoppe-Seyler, 1985A cysteine proteinase inhibitor with acidic isoelectric point (pI = 4.7-5.0) was found in human seminal plasma. Its apparent molecular mass is 16 kDa. It inhibits cysteine proteinases like ficin, cathepsin H, cathepsin B and papain. The inhibitory activity of seminal plasma against ficin is almost the same as that of human serum.

Cystatin-like cysteine proteinase inhibitors of parasitic protozoa [PDF]
A new method has been developed for detecting cystatins and other cysteine proteinase inhibitors. The method, which involves protein separation by SDS-PAGE followed by a cysteine proteinase overlay step, is more sensitive than previously reported techniques: as little as 1 ng of recombinant human cystatin C can be detected and cysteine proteinase ...
