Inducing disulfidptosis in tumors:potential pathways and significance

open access: yesMedComm
Regulated cell death (RCD) is crucial for the elimination of abnormal cells. In recent years, strategies aimed at inducing RCD, particularly apoptosis, have become increasingly important in cancer therapy.

α-Lipoic acid treatment prevents cystine urolithiasis in a mouse model of cystinuria

open access: yesNature Network Boston, 2017
Cystinuria is an incompletely dominant disorder characterized by defective urinary cystine reabsorption that results in the formation of cystine-based urinary stones.

Advances in the Release of Amide‐Containing Molecules

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 16, March 17, 2025.
The ability to release a molecule from a larger construct in a controlled manner is of great importance to produce effective prodrugs, antibody‐drug conjugates, and chemical probes. Amides are ubiquitous functional groups, yet methods to utilise them as molecular release handles are seldom reported.

Plant cystine-knot peptides: pharmacological perspectives.

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 2017
Cystine-knot miniproteins are a class of 30-50 amino acid long peptides widespread in eukaryotic organisms. Due to their very peculiar three-dimensional structure, they exhibit high resistance to heat and peptidase attack.

Size‐Dependent Ultrafast UV Photochemistry of Aliphatic Disulfides in Solution

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Aliphatic disulfides exclusively split homolytically along the S−S bond when directly exciting the disulfide chromophore at about 250 nm. Ultrafast (<1 ps) geminate recombination at high yield is observed in solution for fragment sizes as small as L‐cysteine. The smallest disulfide recombines ten‐fold more slowly.

Cystine Deprivation Triggers Programmed Necrosis in VHL-Deficient Renal Cell Carcinomas.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2016
Oncogenic transformation may reprogram tumor metabolism and render cancer cells addicted to extracellular nutrients. Deprivation of these nutrients may therefore represent a therapeutic opportunity, but predicting which nutrients cancer cells become ...

Kinetically arrested SERS‐Active aggregates for biosensing

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
There is a demand for biosensors capable of long‐term, non‐invasive monitoring of low analyte concentrations in various biofluids for diagnostics, personalized healthcare, and disease monitoring. Biofluids present challenges to biosensor sensing and stability on account of their complex composition and dynamic nature.

Tiny cystine stones in the gallbladder of a patient with cholecystolithiasis complicating acute cholecystitis: a case report

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research, 2012
Cystine stones, the main component of which is cystine, are very common urinary calculi, but are rare in the gall bladder. In animals, there has been only one report of cystine gallstones in tree shrews, and to our knowledge, this is the first report of ...
