Inaccurately assembled cytochrome c oxidase can lead to oxidative stress-induced growth arrest.
AIMS To identify yeast mutants that show a strong redox dependence of the ability to respire, we systematically screened a yeast deletion library for mutants that require the presence of reductants for growth on nonfermentable carbon sources.

Proteogenomic characterization of cholangiocarcinoma
Proteogenomic characterization of cholangiocarcinoma with therapeutic strategies Abstract Background and Aims Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly heterogeneous cancer with limited understanding and few effective therapeutic approaches. We aimed at providing a proteogenomic CCA characterization to inform biological processes and treatment ...

Vibrational energy relaxation (VER) of a CD stretching mode in cytochrome c [PDF]
We first review how to determine the rate of vibrational energy relaxation (VER) using perturbation theory. We then apply those theoretical results to the problem of VER of a CD stretching mode in the protein cytochrome c. We model cytochrome c in vacuum as a normal mode system with the lowest-order anharmonic coupling elements. We find that, for the ``

Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Probing brain oxygenation with near infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
The fundamentals of near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) are reviewed. This technique allows to measure the oxygenation of the brain tissue. The particular problems involved in detecting regional brain oxygenation (rSO2) are discussed. The dominant chromophore (light absorber) in tissue is water.

The biogenesis of Cox4 is unknown. Cox4, mtHsp70, and Mge1 form a complex that promotes the assembly of cytochrome c oxidase. In the absence of the mature cytochrome c oxidase, Cox4 arrests at the chaperone complex.

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 regulates redox and metabolic homeostasis preventing HCC progression
Loss of NOX4 in HCC tumor cells induces metabolic reprogramming in a Nrf2/MYC‐dependent manner to promote HCC progression. Abstract Background and Aims The NADPH oxidase NOX4 plays a tumor‐suppressor function in HCC. Silencing NOX4 confers higher proliferative and migratory capacity to HCC cells and increases their in vivo tumorigenic potential in ...
