Enantioselective CE–MS analysis of ketamine metabolites in urine

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 44, Issue 1-2, Page 125-134, January 2023., 2023
Abstract The chiral drug ketamine has long‐lasting antidepressant effects with a fast onset and is also suitable to treat patients with therapy‐resistant depression. The metabolite hydroxynorketamine (HNK) plays an important role in the antidepressant mechanism of action.

Use of Whole Cells and Cell‐Free Extracts of Catalase‐Deficient E. coli for Peroxygenase‐Catalyzed Reactions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Unspecific peroxygenases (UPOs) and cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (CYPs) with peroxygenase activity are becoming the preferred biocatalysts for oxyfunctionalization reactions. While whole cells (WCs) or cell‐free extracts (CFEs) of Escherichia coli are often preferred for cofactor‐dependent monooxygenase reactions, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ...

Altering 15‐Lipoxygenases to 18‐Lipoxygenases and Their Application to the Production of 5,18‐Dihydroxyeicosapentaenoic Acids

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
15R‐ and 15S‐lipoxygenases (15R‐ and 15S‐LOXs) were engineered into 18R‐ and 18S‐LOXs, respectively. Escherichia coli expressing these enzymes converted eicosapentaenoic acid into 18R‐ and 18S‐hydroxyeicosapentaenoic acids (18R‐ and 18S‐HEPEs), respectively.

A companion to the preclinical common data elements and case report forms for neuropathology studies in epilepsy research. A report of the TASK3 WG2 Neuropathology Working Group of the ILAE/AES Joint Translational Task Force

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract The International League Against Epilepsy/American Epilepsy Society (ILAE/AES) Joint Translational Task Force initiated the TASK3 working group to create common data elements (CDEs) for various aspects of preclinical epilepsy research studies, which could help improve the standardization of experimental designs.

Copper in cancer: friend or foe? Metabolism, dysregulation, and therapeutic opportunities

open access: yesCancer Communications, EarlyView.
Abstract Copper, one of the essential nutrients for the human body, acts as an electron relay in multiple pathways due to its redox properties. Both deficiencies and excesses of copper lead to cellular fragility. Therefore, it can manifest pro‐ and anti‐cancer properties in tumors. Therefore, it is crucial to clarify the copper activity within the cell.

A simple and rapid method to measure cholesterol binding to P450s and other proteins

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
Cholesterol plays an important role in cellular function and membrane compartmentalization and is involved in the interaction with more than a dozen of different proteins. Using three cholesterol-metabolizing cytochrome P450s (P450s 7A1, 46A1, and 11A1),

Parallel implementation of the Density Matrix Renormalization Group method achieving a quarter petaFLOPS performance on a single DGX-H100 GPU node [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We report cutting edge performance results for a hybrid CPU-multi GPU implementation of the spin adapted ab initio Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) method on current state-of-the-art NVIDIA DGX-H100 architectures. We evaluate the performance of the DMRG electronic structure calculations for the active compounds of the FeMoco and cytochrome ...

Structural, Spectroscopic, and Docking Analysis of N,O‐Donor Ligand Metal Complex Nanoparticles With Hypolipidemic Effects via Lipoprotein Lipase Activation in High‐Fat Diet Mice

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
Hypolipidemic influence of CETZ.2HCl‐(H1‐antihistamine) metal‐complexes on “C57Bl/6‐mice” fed high‐fat‐diet. ABSTRACT New Cd(II), Zn(II), and Cu(II) chelates with cetirizine.2HCl (CETZ.2HCl) in incidence of 1,10 phenanthroline monohydrate (Phen.H2O) were synthesized in search of new biologically active compounds.

Using the Honey Bee (Apis mellifera L.) Cell Line AmE‐711 to Evaluate Insecticide Toxicity

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 88-99, January 2023., 2023
Abstract One of the main contributors to poor productivity and elevated mortality of honey bee colonies globally is insecticide exposure. Whole‐organism and colony‐level studies have demonstrated the effects of insecticides on many aspects of honey bee biology and have also shown their interactions with pathogens.
