Galactosylsphingamides : new α-GalCer analogues to probe the F’-pocket of CD1d [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Invariant Natural Killer T-cells (iNKT-cells) are an attractive target for immune response modulation, as upon CD1d-mediated stimulation with KRN7000, a synthetic alpha-galactosylceramide, they produce a vast amount of cytokines.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Preclinical evaluation of DC-CIK cells as potentially effective immunotherapy model for the treatment of glioblastoma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Despite the favorable effects of immunotherapies in multiple types of cancers, its complete success in CNS malignancies remains challenging. Recently, a successful clinical trial of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell immunotherapy in patients with ...

Kinetics and cellular site of glycolipid loading control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
CD1d-restricted natural killer T cells (NKT cells) possess a wide range of effector and regulatory activities that are related to their ability to secrete both T helper 1 (Th1) cell- and Th2 cell-type cytokines.

Differential Targeting of Stem Cells and Differentiated Glioblastomas by NK Cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We have recently shown that Natural Killer (NK) cells control survival and differentiation of Cancer Stem-like Cells (CSCs) through two distinct phenotypes of cytotoxic and anergic NK cells, respectively. In this report, brain CSCs and their serum and NK

Cytokine Induced Killer cells effectively kill chemo-resistant melanoma cancer stem cells [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2015
Background Metastatic Melanoma (mMel) is considered refractory to conventional chemotherapies. New molecular targeted approaches, inhibiting mutated forms of the serinethreonine kinase B-RAF, significantly increased the response rate but patients almost invariably relapse and prognosis remains severe [1,2].

Olink Proteomics Analysis Reveals Heterogeneous Responses to FcRn Blockade in Anti‐AChR Antibody‐Positive Myasthenia Gravis: FGF‐19 as a Novel Biomarker

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to systematically observe the clinical manifestations, immune cell subsets, and dynamic changes in serological indicators in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) before and after efgartigimod (EFG) treatment. Methods We analyzed the baseline data, laboratory parameters, and lymphocyte subset proportions in MG ...

Autologous cytokine-induced killer cell transfusion increases overall survival in advanced pancreatic cancer

open access: yesJournal of Hematology & Oncology, 2016
Background Advanced pancreatic cancer (PC) has very poor prognosis with present treatments, thus necessitating continued efforts to find improved therapeutic approaches. Both preclinical and preliminary clinical data indicate that cytokine-induced killer
