Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

A proteomic and genomic investigation into the role of lamin A in colorectal cancer cell motility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Lamins are type V intermediate filament proteins found at the nuclear envelope. Expression of lamin A in colorectal cancer (CRC) tumours is correlated with poor prognosis and expression of lamin A in CRC cell lines promotes greatly increased cell ...

Active spiralling of microtubules driven by kinesin motors

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cytoskeletal filaments propelled by surface-bound motor proteins can be viewed as active polymers, a class of active matter. When constraints are imposed on their movements, the propelled cytoskeletal filaments show dynamic patterns distinct from ...

Co-purification and localization of Munc18-1 (p67) and Cdk5 with neuronal cytoskeletal proteins

open access: yes, 2004
Munc18-1 (p67, nSec1, rbSec1), a neuron-specific 67 kDa protein was independently identified as a syntaxin-binding protein, and as a component that co-purifies with, and regulates the kinase activity of cyclin dependent kinase (Cdk5).

Copper–Collagen Interactions Regulate the Mechanical and Invasive Properties of Tumor Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic copper is investigated as a modulator of tumor spheroid growth and invasiveness in a 3D microfluidic glioblastoma model. Copper exposure alters metabolic activity, cytoskeletal organization, protrusion dynamics, and EMT‐related phenotypes in a dose‐ and timing‐dependent manner, revealing how copper bioavailability shapes tumor aggressiveness ...

Analysis of cytoskeletal and motility proteins in the sea urchin genome assembly

open access: yes, 2006
The sea urchin embryo is a classical model system for studying the role of the cytoskeleton in such events as fertilization, mitosis, cleavage, cell migration and gastrulation.

Piezoelectric Surface Charge and Dynamic Stimulation Synergize to Promote Cardiac Myoblast Alignment and Maturation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface polarization of PVDF films combined with mechanical stimulation generates piezoelectric electrical cues that modulate cardiomyoblast behaviour. Non‐poled and poled PVDF substrates provide distinct electroactive microenvironments influencing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.
