Retiform Hemangioendotheliomas Usually do not Express D2-40 and VEGFR-3

The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 2008
Retiform hemangioendothelioma (RH) is a rare vascular neoplasm most often occurring in the limbs of middle-aged females. This entity is characterized by infiltrative vascular spaces arranged in a pattern similar to the rete testis. RH differs from angiosarcoma by lacking cytologic atypia and high mitotic rates.

Decreased D2-40 immunoreactivity in stored paraffin sections and methods for preserving it

Biotechnic & Histochemistry, 2014
D2-40, a monoclonal antibody against podoplanin, is a selective marker of lymphatic endothelium and is widely used for research on and diagnosis of pathology of lymphatic vessels. We examined the relation between the duration of tissue section storage and changes in immunostaining by D2-40 antibody; we evaluated also the effects of preservation methods

D2‐40 highlights lymphatic vessel proliferation of angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia

Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, 2009
Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a benign, uncommon idiopathic condition, characterized by cutaneous papules or nodules, whose etiopathogenesis is still unclear. It has been considered an angioproliferating lesion (epithelioid hemangioma) since histologically it is marked by a proliferation of blood vessels, accompanied by an ...

Detection of Lymphovascular Invasion by D2-40 (Podoplanin) Immunoexpression in Endometrial Cancer

International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2012
Lymph node involvement is a major feature in tumor spread of endometrial cancer and predicts prognosis. Therefore, evaluation of lymph vessel invasion (LVI) in tumor tissue as a predictor for lymph node metastasis is of great importance. Immunostaining of D2-40 (podoplanin), a specific marker for lymphatic endothelial cells, might be able to increase ...

Clinical Usefulness of D2-40 in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Lung, 2010
D2-40 is a recently developed monoclonal antibody that reacts with a 40 kDa O-linked sialoglycoprotein and has been used for the assessment of lymphatic invasion in tumor specimens. We have evaluated the diagnostic usefulness of D2-40 and association of its immunopositivity with clinicopathological parameters in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell ...

D2-40 is Not a Specific Marker for Cells of Mesothelial Origin in Serous Effusions

American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2006
The presence of effusion in a patient with a history of primary malignant tumor elsewhere in the body is generally accepted as a clinical manifestation of metastatic disease. Even in those cases, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate reactive mesothelial cells from carcinoma cells.

Podoplanin (D2-40) is a Highly Effective Marker of Follicular Dendritic Cells

Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology, 2009
The monoclonal antibody D2-40 recognizes the membrane protein podoplanin, which is an established marker for germ cell tumors, mesotheliomas, and other tumor types and is also expressed in a variety of normal cells including follicular dendritic cells (FDCs). To determine whether podoplanin represents an effective FDC marker for pathologic lymph nodes,

Lymphangiogenesis in Crohn’s disease: an immunohistochemical study using monoclonal antibody D2-40

Virchows Archiv, 2007
Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disorder of unknown etiology. An involvement of the intestinal lymphatic system has been suggested. Recently, monoclonal antibodies have become available to distinguish lymphatic vessels from blood vessels.

Expression of D2‐40 in lymphatic endothelium of normal tissues and in vascular tumours

Histopathology, 2005
Aims : To evaluate the expression of D2‐40 in normal lymphatic endothelium and vascular tumours or tumour‐like lesions of the skin and soft tissue. D2‐40 is a novel monoclonal antibody to a Mr 40 000 O‐linked sialoglycoprotein that reacts with a fixation‐resistant epitope in lymphatic endothelium. Methods and results : Formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded ...

D2-40 Immunreactivity In Colon Adenocarcinomas

Aim: In the present study, the relationship between D2-40 immunoreactivity and tumor grade, clinic phase and lymph node metastase in colon adenocarcinomas were examined.Method: Sixty cases diagnosed with colon adenocarcinoma in our department between 2002and 2009 were included in the study. Sections from appropriate paraffin blocks belonging tothe cases
