Critical evaluation of three cryo‐EM structures of particulate methane monooxygenase by quantum refinement

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 81, Issue 11, Page 605-620, November 2025.
We have studied the copper sites in three cryogenic electron‐microscopy structures of particulate methane monooxygenase with quantum refinement. We show that the CuA, CuC and CuD sites are correctly modelled and that the CuB site is mononuclear in all structures, whereas we find no support for copper in the suggested trinuclear active site or two sites

Can a supernova bang twice?

open access: yes, 2010
The implications of a QCD phase transition at high temperatures and densities for core-collapse supernovae are discussed. For a strong first order phase transition to quark matter, various scenarios have been put forward in the literature. Here, detailed

Mass inflation in a D dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom black hole: a hierarchy of particle accelerators ? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study the geometry inside the event horizon of perturbed D dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom-(A)dS type black holes showing that, similarly to the four dimensional case, mass inflation also occurs for D>4.

Rescaling FSC curves

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 81, Issue 11, Page 621-629, November 2025.
Calculating and plotting FSC curves on a uniform scale in inverse cubic resolution (Å−3) has several useful features.Similarity between two periodic functions is commonly assessed by comparing their Fourier coefficients within resolution shells. In particular, this approach is widely used in both crystallography and cryo‐electron microscopy (cryoEM ...

Genetic Algorithm as Automated Valuation Model Component in Real Estate Investment Decisions System

open access: yesReal Estate Management and Valuation, 2020
Every real-estate related investment decision making process calls for the careful analysis of available information even though it is often carried out in conditions of uncertainty.

Stability of spin-0 graviton and strong coupling in Horava-Lifshitz theory of gravity

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we consider two different issues, stability and strong coupling, raised lately in the newly-proposed Horava-Lifshitz (HL) theory of quantum gravity with projectability condition.

Crystallographic fragment screening against SARS‐CoV‐2 nonstructural protein 1 using the F2X‐Entry Screen and a newly developed fragment library

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 81, Issue 11, Page 630-645, November 2025.
Two crystallographic fragment screening campaigns against SARS‐CoV‐2 nonstructural protein 1 resulted in the identification of 21 new hits.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) continues to threaten global health. This underpins the need for novel therapeutics against this virus.

SURFS and AlphaFold Reveal Ribosome Footprint Shift Caused by EF-Tu D81 Mutation

open access: yes
SummaryProtein synthesis relies on accurate mRNA decoding by tRNA, a process guided by EF-Tu. We investigated how mutations at a conserved residue, aspartate 81, affect EF-Tu function using GTPase assays, AlphaFold modeling, and quantum-sensing-based super-resolution force spectroscopy (SURFS).
