Defect production in Si(100) by 19F, 28Si, 40Ar, and 131Xe implantation at room temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We used x-ray double-crystal diffractometry and MeV 4He channeling spectrometry to study quantitatively the damage produced in Si(100) at room temperature by 230-keV 19F, 230-keV 28Si, 250-keV 40Ar, or 570-keV 131Xe implantation.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

In an Ising model with spin-exchange dynamics damage always spreads

open access: yes, 1998
We investigate the spreading of damage in Ising models with Kawasaki spin-exchange dynamics which conserves the magnetization. We first modify a recent master equation approach to account for dynamic rules involving more than a single site.

Generation and recovery of strain in (28)Si-implanted pseudomorphic GeSi films on Si(100) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Effects of ion implantation of 320 keV Si-28 at room temperature in pseudomorphic metastable GexSi1-x (x almost-equal-to 0.04, 0.09, 0.13) layers approximately 170 nm thick grown on Si(100) wafers were characterized by x-ray double-crystal diffractometry

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Numerical Study of Discharge Coefficients for Side-Damaged Compartments

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Accurately evaluating the buoyancy and stability of damaged ships, particularly the flow rate of the water inflow through damaged openings, is of great significance for ship rescue and emergency repair.

The potential role and application of PARP inhibitors in cancer treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Since many anti-cancer agents act by inflicting DNA damage on tumour cells, there is increasing interest in the use of inhibitors of DNA repair to increase the cytotoxicity of these agents.

Damage stability requirements for autonomous ships based on equivalent safety

open access: yesSafety Science, 2020
In recent years, a significant amount of research has been conducted on autonomous ships. Since it is assumed that these ships will sail with a significantly reduced crew or even without people on board, the design of the ship needs reconsideration.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
