Damping of Nanomechanical Resonators [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2010
We study the transverse oscillatory modes of nanomechanical silicon nitride strings under high tensile stress as a function of geometry and mode index m <= 9. Reproducing all observed resonance frequencies with classical elastic theory we extract the relevant elastic constants.

A Mouse Model of Damp-Heat Syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Impact on Pancreatic Tumor Growth

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
BackgroundDamp-heat syndrome is one of the most important syndrome types in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation and treatment system, as well as the core pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer (PC) which remains a challenge to ...

Quick Oscillations With Damping

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, 1979
AbstractA class of n‐th order (n > 1) differential equations with deviating arguments is considered and sufficient conditions are established in order that all bounded quickly oscillatory solutions (i.e. oscillatory solutions whose consecutive zeros have distance which approaches zero) tend to zero at ∞.

Multiple Strategies Confirm the Anti Hepatocellular Carcinoma Effect of Cinnamic Acid Based on the PI3k-AKT Pathway

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Its high recurrence rate and limited treatment options underscore the urgent need for the development of new and highly effective drugs.

How does an RNA selfie work? EV-associated RNA in innate immunity as self or danger

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2020
Innate immunity is a first line of defence against danger. Exogenous pathogen- or microbe-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs or MAMPs) trigger innate immune responses through well-understood cellular pathways.

The damped wave equation with singular damping

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2020
We analyze the spectral properties and peculiar behavior of solutions of a damped wave equation on a finite interval with a singular damping of the form α

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

The damped wave equation with unbounded damping

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2018
We analyze new phenomena arising in linear damped wave equations on unbounded domains when the damping is allowed to become unbounded at infinity. We prove the generation of a contraction semigroup, study the relation between the spectra of the semigroup generator and the associated quadratic operator function, the convergence of non-real eigenvalues ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
