Myasthenia Gravis Outcomes After Use of Statins and Other Contraindicated Treatments: Results From the French National Insurance Database

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2026.
In this real‐world study among 14,459 adults with MG, exposure to any contraindicated treatment was not significantly associated with risk of ICU admission for MG but was associated with significantly higher risk of death. In contrast, statins were associated with a greater risk of ICU admission but a lower risk of death.

Staircase in mammalian muscle without light chain phosphorylation

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1999
In disuse atrophied skeletal muscle, the staircase response is virtually absent and light chain phosphorylation does not occur. The purpose of the present study was to determine if staircase could be restored in atrophied muscle with continued absence of

The Potential Role of Calcium Channels in Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a severe cardiovascular syndrome characterized by progressively elevated pulmonary arterial pressure and driven pathologically by sustained vasoconstriction and irreversible vascular remodeling. Growing evidence underscores the central role of calcium ion (Ca2+) signaling networks in PH pathogenesis, which dynamically ...

Analysis of the flavonoid component of bioactive New Zealand mānuka (Leptospermum scoparium) honey and the isolation, characterisation and synthesis of an unusual pyrrole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The flavonoid components of New Zealand mānuka (Leptospermum scoparium) honey have been quantified in a series of 31 honeys of varying non-peroxide antibacterial activity to clarify discrepancies between previous studies reported in the literature. Total

Eco‐Conscious RP‐HPLC Method for Concurrent Quantification of Assay and Dissolution Testing of Methocarbamol and Diclofenac Potassium in Tablet Formulations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
A common combination of methocarbamol (MTH) and diclofenac potassium (DCL K) relieves musculoskeletal pain and inflammation through centrally acting muscle relaxants. A dual‐function RP‐HPLC method was used to analyze the assay and dissolution testing of MTH and DCL K simultaneously. As part of the suggested method, green and white analytical chemistry

Bile acids activate ryanodine receptors in pancreatic acinar cells via a direct allosteric mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The earliest critical event of pancreatitis is a long lasting high amplitude rise of intracellular Ca(2+) concentration of the acinar cell, which can be triggered by high concentration of bile acids.

Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar State as the Initial Presentation of Wolfram Syndrome: A Common Complication Revealing a Rare Disease—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
MRI brain revealing features consistent with central diabetes insipidus (Figure A), pontine atrophy (Figure B), and bilateral optic nerve atrophy (Figure C) in a young, non‐autoimmune diabetic patient: imaging clue to Wolfram syndrome. ABSTRACT Wolfram syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by diabetes insipidus, diabetes ...

Study on contraction and relaxation of experimentally denervated and immobilized muscles: Comparison with dystrophic muscles [PDF]

open access: yes
The contraction-relaxation mechanism of experimentally denervated and immobilized muscles of the rabbit is examined. Results are compared with those of human dystrophic muscles, in order to elucidate the role and extent of the neurotrophic factor, and ...
